Mute and Unmute Steps in Grid Mode

Hey everyone,
I want to do something simple: Mute and unmute certain steps in grid mode, just to find the right combination. Whenever I mute/deactivate that step, and press it again, it resets the sound and everything for that step.
Is there a way to keep the sounds unchanged and turn on and off certain steps?
I’ve tried to find a solution for this online without luck.
Seems like something simple and obvious to want to do, so maybe I’m missing something?
Thanks in advance!

Use fill mode.

Hero of the day (sorry I didn’t get a notification about your reply).

Thank you!

I have found a method not mentioned anywhere, I believe (it works on Digitone 1 and 2, at least): in grid recording mode, hold Func and press the step you want to mute, it turns yellow and is now “muted” . To get it back (with everything as before) push the step again WITHOUT holding Func…

@bitt1997 you found a “Trigless” TRIG. it is described in the manual.
Not sure why it acts like mute in your case.

I know, but it works for muting, and keeping the previous state when pushed again

@bitt1997 my bad :grinning: .
Did not read the first post. I thought it is about track mute.

That’s an interesting alternative way of using trigless trigs, never thought of them like that.

If there are parameters locked on that step, you may hear them affecting the previous step if its sustain passes the ‘muted’ step.
Just something to be aware of.

Also interesting to check how LFO.T and FLT.T are restored if they were PLOCKed on original RED TRIG.

Regarding LFO.T I learned recently that it also affects HOLD LFO mode not only ONE and HALF.

Indeed, but an ok quick access method for percussive or non-sustaining sounds, as I’m sure we all use a lot on the Digitone… what a percussion synthesizer!
