I use the OG Digitone. I transfer .sxy files from it, to my Linux computer, using the amidi utility. From the terminal, type man amidi. One of the examples shows how to send/receive a .syx file. Very straightforward without extra layers of bullshit. A short script can be written to speed up the process.
I actually was happy to see someone here using linux and the DAW that I usually use… and again a little sad when I read in your new video that you mastered it with bitwig… i guess you didn’t find so comfortable with ardour?
both are very nice songs, btw. I hope you keep giving us some music to listen ![]()
My first impressions of Bitwig are great! It’s not Bitwig I had trouble mastering with, but mixing on the DN2 with song mode. Since I used several short patterns and each pattern is completely standalone, I had a hard time keeping levels even between patterns. Which is why I’m gonna try performance mode next time I use song mode so that all the patterns use the same kit.
As for Bitwig, I have to familiarize myself with the workflow and learn how to use its plug-ins. I’ve been using the same handful of plug-ins for years in FL Studio, so it’s just a matter of spending time with Bitwig’s plug-ins and I should be good to go I hope!
