I went to a jam a few months ago where a guy pulled this line…
Him: “I don’t know any music theory. With music theory, you wouldn’t come up with something like this.” plays riff
Me: plays riff back “Oh, so it’s like a F Lydian thing?”
Him: “What do you mean?”
Me: “It’s a major scale, but you just flat the 5. Or you can think about it in terms relative to a C major scale where…”

And that’s how you don’t get invited back for a second jam session
