When Van Halen released their debut album in 1978, I thought they were singing “you’re Idi Amin”, and when he was overthrown a year later I thought that song had played a part. FWIW, I was a dumbass and complicated the situation by smoking a lot of pot.

In French, we don’t even bother to recreate lyrics, we “sing in yoghourt” and more or less try to match the sound of the syllabus.
It’s completely OK socially, and you can sing your lungs out.
