Exactly. I came up with it on my own a long time ago to make file management easier, and after using it for a few years I learned that I had rediscovered the ISO standard. The one and only good date format.

But if that standard was made in 1988, how was it addressing online confusion exactly?

Well, to be precise, the YYYY-MM-DD standard was first introduced in ISO 2014 in 1976, which is even further from online confusion. But anyway, it always made more sense.
