todays came together pretty quickly this morning. been working a ton this year and its catching up to the body, feelin real sore and heavy. but the suns lookin nice and this beat was fun to start the day with
ended up making a bunch of tunes today! spent it hanging out in parks, first with some friends, then by myself. made tunes along the way, some kids at the first park said they enjoyed the tunes too so i know im heading in the right direction.
ive been listening to a bunch of ethanplus recently and have certainly been inspired by their style
this was from the first park, made it off the ep133 speaker while my friend was noodling on his op-1f so my brain was a little scattered but it still came together well
this is from the second park, there was a dude who had been tanning there all day and he was nodding along so im glad it wasnt obtrusive at the low volume i had it at. sampled some chords from the fm2, did some nine six chords (maybe the wrong name but thats just what ricky tinez called em). makes c major sound cool
really didnt see this coming, my girlfriend decided to end our relationship last night. im feeling pretty sad, i spent most of today driving around listening to music. wasnt sure if i was going to put anything together today but im glad i did. ive long thought of my tunes as little journal entries that give a glimpse into my life at the time. this track feels like a good representation of that.
Sorry to hear about that man. Been there.
Was just about to post how much i enjoy your jams man. Love hearing creative music and your stuff always draws me in.
Keep doing your thing, I know music has been there for me in ways no one else has besides my cats. that last part is the most poignant, I agree with the journal entries, when ive made music and tough times, listening to those tracks many years later and seeing the beautiful shit you made is clarity
thanks homie, your kind words mean alot. im certainly finding some nice solace in this routine of daily tunes, gives me a good anchor to come back to each day. i think im gonna spend the rest of the night digging real far back for the older tough time tracks, i can definitely use some clarity
tonights tune features my new purchase, the yamaha reface cs. im having the same kinda fun i had with the s1 but even more-so with the keys. just dinking around with the different oscillator types had me coming up with song starter loops on the fly. excited to dig into that and see what i get
more reface exploration here. all the synths are reface cs, this really is the synth ive been looking for. so quick and easy to get from one sound to another. just played around with the 404 looper and different sounds then wrangled them in with some fx.
i have made progress from going and buying a cigar (black and mild, hardly a cigar) every time i have a craving to just smoking cigarettes. i dont know if this is a step forward or backward but its a step out of the loop i was on. maybe that will be enough.
made another tune tonight. had a very good conversation today, very healing, very open, lots of clarity, new ideas, different possibilities.
the reface cs is so sick. i totally get why its got the reputation for being a sweet spot synth. i made my first ambient track folks.
recorded four big chords into the 404 at random lengths, let em loop and freestyled on the reface over the top while playing with the faders. then did another round with some fx. incredibly meditative process, im understanding the ambient people much better now.
more reface sounds but more in my typical brand of tune.
life is weird right now.
really really enjoying the reface. all the synth sounds are reface on this one, made some snappy sounds and a fun effect while playing around with the lfo. im finding it way easier to make a broader range of sounds on this than i was making on the s1.
im in the process of finding a therapist. this feels like an important step that i’ve been wanting to do for at least five years now. got some good motivation to do it and theres actually providers accepting new patients unlike the last time I looked. i have a consultation on Monday, really looking forward to starting this process. definitely not where i thought this effort would head but my problems with nicotine are also symptoms of other issues I haven’t dealt with and its time to get a little help!
didnt have a whole lot in me today. ready for the weekend, ready to just turn off. gonna do some work in the mornings but hoping to just bring the reface to a park and zone out
zoned out and did another ambient deal tonight. recorded some chords off my casiotone and played with the reface
been working on the weekend mornings for the past four months and im getting pretty tired of working seven days a week. i think im getting a little burned out but im really hyped for the payday that it’ll deliver me soon enough. gonna get me outta credit card debt.
made this one right when i got home. finding more interesting sounds on the reface when playing with the FEG/AEG slider, and the LFO on the filter with some nice release.
Sounds great as always!
Burn out is real! Not a resolution but looking at the positives definitely keeps it at bay!
thanks dude! yes indeed, the positives are keeping me with it. its also nice to be spending this much time with my dad this frequently, we certainly weren’t seeing each other as often despite the fact we live in the same city.
and im making sure a portion of the payday buys me a new toy, got my eyes on an op-1 i think, many nice things to look forward to while i round out the grind.
pushing through the brain fog, my dad thinks we’ll be done with this job by the end of next weekend, im thinking thats wishful thinking, maybe two more weeks imo. looking forward to a summer of normal, relaxing weekends
made this one with some reface sounds (one even sounds like a harmonica) and then i played some piano over it. got some bluesy notes in there
Hello! Excuse my English (I use Google Translator). My name is Dani, I am from Mallorca (Spain), and I wanted to share with everyone on the forum the first video I have made on my YouTube channel, where I make improvised techno with my beloved Octatrack MK1 and Behringer Edge.
I hope you like it!
for sure dude! sounds hard!
you may get more eyes on it in this thread linked below, the thread we are in right now is more about specifically making tunes every day in the month of May
been watching a bunch of red means recording op-1 videos to cement my original op-1 GAS, think it kinda rubbed off on this chord situation. im a fan of it, im always happy when im this far into a month of tunes and im still getting stuff that feels new for me.
challenged myself to whip up a beat in the 30 minutes i had before i had to leave for work this morning, just finished it up on the 404 on my lunch break. starting to feel a lil formulaic, gonna have to hit a new flow soon
saw a dude drop his food wrapper on the ground at the intersection outside my window. short one today from the 404 looper, gotta go see off a friend whos moving back to Sweden.
