Multisample Workflow

Is there a way to bring down the velocity when multiple sampling in TV? If I record my MO8 Electric Keyboard I have to sample with 127 velocity layers. Because if I sample with only one velocity layer it is way to hot. Is it possible to adjust the velocity output value so I would be able to sample with only one vel layer. Thanks

There should be a max velocity setting. IIRC there is a similar setting on Blackbox / Tangerine…

A max setting would be great. But in the meantime just sample with 3 or 4 layers?

It would be a bit of a faff and you’d need a midi interface but you could use something like MidiFire to convert the default 127 to another value. I’ve used it to convert velocity to modulation wheel values

Yes but it multiplies file size by 3 or 4.

I don’t see any way forward that doesn’t require manual intervention e.g. multisample more layers than you need, transfer the resulting WAV to a computer, chop it up in to individual WAVs you want to keep, and use Multisample Architect to create the finished .elmulti package.

The sizes are not that big when sampling with 3 or 4 layers, the thing is that if I play it with external keyboard is impossible to play and not avoiding the high velocity layer. It must be sampled with way much more layers of velocity just to be able to play it correctly. At least 64 layers, when actually all I need is max value setting

No way I m gonna do this in the computer. Than why do I need the machine? I’would have just bought the Push 3 and now I wouldn’t have this issue. because let’s be honest, beyond the hype, the multisample option is a joke. All the instruments are bad, you can not loop an instrument with loop start & end points to play it like a synth. they are only as long as the recorded sample. But I d be ok to forget all that if only I could set the max velocity out

And also stop renaming my recordings, who told you you can do that on my machine? I don’t allow you to do that. give me option to disable it because I don’t like the names nor the process

Sorry guys that was for elektron people

While I respect your approach (I’ve minimized the computer from my workflow over the years, opting to use it solely for mastering after final mixdown), this Elektron box seems to be the one that honestly demands computer integration the most.

…but as to why you’d want the Tonverk if you deigned to use a computer, it would be for the flexible sonic discovery potential that the Tonverk would stiff offer (p-locks, resampling, easy hands on sequencer, etc). I get the hyperbole in your comment, but lets be honest - a mild use of a computer doesn’t negate the potential of this box.

I understand your point, but me personally I’ve never used OB. Especially when almost all of them offer audio interface functionalities. That s how I use the computer, Ableton. Recording performances only in stereo and maybe even arranging. But it’s been at least one year with no Soundcloud posting nor Ableton touching. Just consuming music on my machines, all Elektron and a Prophet Rev2, by performing patterns that are continuously changing. But back to TV finishing product, it needs a lot of work and improvements to live up to the price that it costs

I don’t know how to bitch about it without being to harsh, because let’s be honest, we all love Elektron. I love the idea of the TV, but I also want to make sure that the machine gets better. I already have an OT and me personally I never asked for a better one. But so far the TV seems like a worst OT with a better sound quality, because the multiplayer instrument is not a feature that attracts anyone at this point

No arguments out of me there, as despite acknowledging the feature’s worth I certainly wasn’t drawn to the Tonverk due to that feature (or the subtracks, both I found repellant a bit).

… yet, especially for somebody who appreciates the Elektron sequencer’s explorative benefits, it seems like it would be of value to you (multisampling the Prophet and using p-locks to elevate the resulting patches, etc).

Yes it is, I mean it could. For that purpose I use DT2. I’d rather multisample my MO8. Strings, E. Keyboards, Pianos, etc.

TV lands better in the boom bap zone, soulful beats, electro pop
