Multimap feature: how does it work?

I have a question about multimap feature.

I’m new to digitone, I love it and I’m learning how to use it.

I’m trying to configure the multimap to be able to live play some drum sounds on a track.

I created a pool with some sounds in it, then I created the map with this config:

  • Function: INT.TRIG
  • Range low: C0
  • Range high: B0
  • Track: AUTO
  • Note: C0
  • Note inc: 1
  • Sound slot: 1
  • Snd slot note inc: 1
  • Snd slot vel inc: 0
  • Fixed vel: OFF

But when I click the trigs the sounds are note those in the pool and actually I can’t understand the logic behind what I heard! (trigs play some different sounds but where do they came from?)

Thank you.

You have to play the right octave with trigs.

I transposed the trigs down to C0, something changes.
The first 3-4 trigs sounds right, the other are silent even if the pool contains 10 sounds.

Try Note inc 0 instead of 1.

How do you transpose trigs in Multi Map page?
(Coming from Analog Four)

Solved!
I had to set the note config to the right octave.
So the correct config is:

  • Function: INT.TRIG
  • Range low: C0
  • Range high: B0
  • Track: AUTO
  • Note: C5 (this was wrong)
  • Note inc: 0 (this was wrong)
  • Sound slot: 1
  • Snd slot note inc: 1
  • Snd slot vel inc: 0
  • Fixed vel: OFF

Thank you all, you drove me to the solution in some way.

I’d set Note inc to 0, otherwise it changes your drums pitch chromatically from lowest note.
@emadb do you know how to change played notes trigs in Multimap mode?

You are right, I fixed my settings above.

I don’t know how to change notes, I’m using it for only for drums right now.

Thank you.

I mean how do you listen to range C0/B0, C1/B1, C2/B2 etc…

Sorry @sezare56 I don’t understand your question :man_facepalming:

Probably you need to define different ranges. Consider also that multimap works until you have the screen on that page, as soon as you go back to normal visualization the multimap is disabled.

Actually with some midi loopback you can exit that page and use the midi tracks to play the multimap (multimap channel cannot be set on “auto” then)

I already did that, but I wonder if there’s a possibility in Multimap mode, without midi loopback.
With A4, it’s TRANSPOSE + ARROWS to change octaves in Multimap edit mode.

I too struggle to get this working with an external controller.

tracks are set to listen to their corresponding midi channel (track 1 = channel 1 etc)
I then create 4 ranges (one octave each) starting on C0,
C0 goes to channel 1
C1 to channel 2 . and so forth

each tracks responds to my controller when sending on 1,2,3 or 4 but they won’t listen to my multimap channel at all

any thoughts what I could be doing wrong here?
cheers

global settings/MIDI/channels/MULTI MAP CH

Did you set a dedicated MIDI channel there?

yes I did , multimap channel on 15

and from each range I’m sending out channel 1 through 4 - that not right maybe?

Are you sure you send the right midi notes ?
You can try Multimap on a higher range to check ?

gee, sorry for the gigantic pics. I’ll edit

shouldn`t it be Function: INT.TRIG ?

FWITW, my keyboard is sent through the pyramid first - however, playing through channel 1-4 works just fine
