What are the chances we could multitrack Digitakt without computer anytime in the future?
For example, in eurorack world there are modules converting USB-MIDI to CV. What are the chances there will be a device to convert overbridge USB into multiple outs without the fucking computer?
Ideally, I would be thrilled if it would be possible to send separate tracks to L / R and the rest to the headphones output, but I guess I’ll grow old and die before this happens.
There isn’t actually a device to convert overbridge USB into multiple outs with the fucking computer, as Overbridge is not yet available. I guess this doesn’t address your specific issue but this elephant needed to be cleared out of the room.
Elektron doesn’t use class compliant Audio-over-USB for Overbridge, but a protocol of their own invention with no published details. So either Elektron releases such a breakout box by their own or it will not legally happen.
And even if they would release such a breakout box depending on the numbers of outs it wouldn’t be cheap either.
We’ve talked about if Elektron would make some awesome mixer/fx/hub for all the other units and hook up by OB, but what about the editor, would it have a big screen?
We’ve talked about this but absolutely nobody but the inner Elektron folks have any idea if they’re even considering it… It’s an Elektronauts fantasy…
I’d say it’s super uber highly unlikely considering the OB code is built to interface with computers…
Elektron would basically have to build a computer or rework the entire code, and then is it even OB?
I have zero expectations of such device, but if it happens I’ll be pleasantly surprised…
