MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 4)

I was using a 7/8 time signature and the record count-in was only clicking three times. It turns out that I needed to set the metronome’s rate to 1/8th to get the expected number of clicks. I had actually figured it out before they replied, but was pleasantly surprised by their fast and thorough response. I’d expected the MPC to understand the time signature and automatically give me a count-in of seven 8th-notes.

It doesn’t stick out further than the phono ground, power button, or any of the jacks, so I don’t see the issue.

Anyone else out there with really poor battery performance?
Screen dimmed and seems like barely more than 2 hours runtime.

Also having some touchstrip issues, but that seems like a firmware bug.

Fired up my MPC One on 2.15 and I think I like it more overall.
I really want to like the MPC L3 and new OS, but not sure I do!?!?!

Ooh, thanks
might have to go ham on this

Hasn’t ever been an issue. I would say the biggest disadvantage is when you want to backup or transfer larger folders. 150-200 mbs is painfully slow when you’re in a rush. Quality SSDs are lightening quick comparatively. That’ll be why I install an SSD eventually even more than for the extra space.

I had no problem moving my projects over from 2.15, you get a message saying you need to resave it in 3.x format before you can edit, and that it’s not backward compatible. None of my projects were super-complicated but I don’t recall any serious problems. A few things like track mutes did not work properly at first, but that was an issue that was fixed a year or so ago.

It takes a few days. It was fairly painless for me to move over as I have been using the MPC for less than a year when 3.0 came out, but I can see how it’s stressful to have to mentally rebuild the ‘architecture’ of your projects. On the other hand, I did not miss the old-style mixer or the limited options of the older sampler. Once you figure out where everything is I really think it’s a vast improvement.

Spent some time with Arc On Ear by IKM. Sometimes you can believe the hype is my take away. Had I never tried it I wouldn’t need it but since I can’t un-hear what I’ve heard it’s a keeper.

The unit is built like a tank and heavy as a hockey puck. Calibration is def the star of the show. Confirms I made great investments in cans (th808s, ndh20/30s) but still enhances their value quite a bit, especially when recording/mixing vocals which I do ALOT. More noticeable with my ATM50s which is great as those are my road warriors and most comfy set. Looking forward to IK adding more listening profiles like consumer headsets and earbuds considering that’s how most people are listening to noise these days.

Case was a nice touch. The 3.5mm to 1/4” analog cable is clutch for sampling PlayStation 5 via Portal. Not sure how IK had it made but it’s much better than my other similar cables.

Also, was pleased to find that a little $2 lightening to USBC dongle allows me to sample my older iOS devices.

I also bought a new 5.8 wireless guitar system so that once I create a quick drum groove I can walk around or go lounge on the couch playing my Aerophone or guitars into my live 3 with no pesky wires in the way.

I’ll share thoughts if it’s good. If i ont say nothing it sucked.

I think having a good muscle memory from previous generations of MPCs make the user dismiss the new look because in the end you are still in the mpc universe

Which instruments come out more now that you have the IKM monitoring system ? Is it your kicks ? Snares ? Toms?

This guy has some cool demos that can work for Force & MPCs.

“Modulate all the things!”

Drum Mod Matrix spicing up a simple Arp loop. Nice!

“Record your hardware synth into audio loops”

He’s using the Force drum pads to play clips, but MPC users with the Pro-Pack, should be able to use the screen clip matrix instead or top-buttons on L3.

Great to hear the IK Headphone tool is a keeper. I may pick one up since I’m always in cans.

If you do, I recommend getting it from anyone but direct from IK unless you have Jampoints to cash in. All sales from their online shop are final. Doesn’t seem like that should be legal.

Fortunately for me, I’ve always loved everything I’ve gotten and nothings been jacked up enough to return.

Do you MPC while you shave? :grinning:

JK, I know it makes a great dust brush, just couldn’t resist.

Is there a simpler way to bounce two audio tracks down to one - short of doing an Audio Mixdown?

Thanks!
