If you load the plugin into logic you can drag audio and midi from your MPC project into logic
Canât use it as standalone audio interface from experience
Nope, think has to be in controller mode.
Once in controller mode, it struggles to find my samples, though. So either Iâm not using it right (very likely), or the main purpose of this is not to record directly from the MPC, but use it as an audio interface for mixing duties and other things, but not to just record a finished song directly from the MPC into the Logic for final polish, even if itâs just the stereo track.
Again, I might be missing something, but it shouldnât be this hard. With Elektron and TE gear, I just plug it in and boom there it is.
IDK if I understand correctly what you want to do, but once youâre in controller mode, insert the MPC vst inside one the tracks in Logic, then inside your MPC (still in controller mode) open up a session you want to record as a streo track, setup Logic track with MPC vst to receive audio from the MPC and you good to go.
Or export the tracks (or stereo mix) on the MPC itself (Song mode -> Export) and copy the exported files to your computer.
I think Iâll just use my TP-7 again then, before it goes. Might even have found a reason to keep it now.
As @rtme and @PatBapt are implying, there are lots of ways to do it. If you just want to record a stereo out recording, dropping the MPC plugin into your daw and setting it as an input on an audio track is by far the easiest way. Then if you want to actually mix a full song, you can further route each pad/track/submix into separate audio tracks in the DAW. In Ableton this is super simple, Iâm sure youâre itâs similarly straightforward in Logic.
Using the above methods also allow you to jam over the song live and have the performance be recorded into each stem. Itâs like Overbridge if you want it to, or itâs like its own production environment within your daw if you want that. And you can use the hardware seamlessly throughout the entire process. In my world, itâs so much better than the Overbridge workflow.
Yet another way is to export audio stems from the MPC by having it generate its own wav files and then just drop those into Logic.
Yet another way, I suppose, is to record via the analog outs.
I donât mean this in a disrespectful way at all, but throughout the last week of listening to your process and thoughts, Iâm not sure I fully understand where you are in your journey - particularly, why youâre (re)evaluating the MPC.
You very recently seemed to conclude that youâre done with hardware, then you did a bit of a 180 and jumped back into it via the MPC, but I sense that youâre still somewhat frustrated with the whole idea of learning new workflows. Thatâs probably what feels so âhardâ: learning a different workflow. And if thatâs not enjoyable to you, Iâm curious about why youâre doing it in the first place. Donât get me wrong, I can totally relate and I often try new things myself out of curiosity, to see if thereâs something else out there that Iâd enjoy more than what I already have.
But in your case, it comes across as if you have a very established and specific way you want things to work, so the deviations from that path seem to create friction and trigger frustration. That doesnât seem all that fun to me.
My outsiderâs read is that you seem convinced deep inside that you donât really need or even enjoy new hardware anymore. But before closing that hardware door, youâre just trying to take another peek to confirm for yourself that itâs not for you. The MPC represents that peek, but it sounds to me that you might be happier if you just close the door firmly for now.
Itâs possible (even likely) that Iâve misunderstood where you are in your journey so take all of this with a grain of salt.
Some journeys never end, mate
I like to explore new stuff, even if I like what Iâm doing already.
Make us a lofi boombap hip hip instrumental please.
Sincerely,

I just updated to 2.15, but didnât buy stems.
It sure is giving me âdesigned by product managerâ flashbacks from one of my past jobs, what with the Stems button shoved in both the Sample Edit and Program edit header bars, even though itâs also in the function menu (where it belongs!) - and I donât even have it activated!
Iâm not expecting them to improve the experience, but I would appreciate an option in the settings to hide it if I donât have it activated.
Contacting them did no good. In fact, they added this tag in their latest release, Stems.
To obtain more than 3 unlocks purchase a second licence which will give you a total of 6.
For those experiencing midi sync issues with MPC and Logic, or hiccupsâŚI found a possible solution. I could be a corrupted p.list file. They go bad sometimes. Its basically the list of all yer prefs.
Just shut off Logic. Make a dupe of your .plist just in case generating a default .plist doesnât werk. Delete the .plist file from the pref folder. Start Logic.
I did that and sync is super tite again. No hiccups on looping the transport. And MPC chases transport position perfectly.
Location: user > hidden lib > prefs
File: com.apple.logic10.plist
That is the correct file for Logic 11 as well
Perhaps the issue is the same for other DAWs. Not sure what their file formats would be tho.
Getting in my last licks before I gotta let it go.
Same with me, donât know what it means, maybe it has no functionality
It means they want you to buy stems pushing the buttons results in a prompt to buy stems. digital pimps hard at work
All these âproblemsâ with the new generation of hardware is easily fixableâŚ
Edit - Iâll be putting my bid in, but first the Pimps at McDonaldâs are forcing me to buy a BigMacâŚ
MmmâŚ. Food
Any actually useful updates in 2.15? Or did it just add nudges and prompts to buy stems?
Just bugfixes and stems standalone
