How can people at Akai R&D get it so wrong with this red thing they’re peddling and not understand the market place, and, know that something resembling the classic Akai/VX600 aesthetic would sell by the bucket load?? It seems crazy to me…

As you probably know, Akai means “red” in Japanese. It probably has a deeper meaning for the brand, considering this year is Akai’s 40th anniversary.

I like to think I’m above the whole “it’s not my color” or “I’ll buy it when it’s X color”… but, once the MPC LIve 2 came out in Retro colors, I could resist no longer.
Fully agreed, if they don’t do a Retro version of this (possibly coming) MPC unit, they are missing the mark.
