What sucks is that we all like shiny new things, which why this bug is still a problem. The Red Ninja Clan knows it customs well with 35 years selling this model. Still, they need to fix it…next month or so we’ll be like oooh look at that new… Got us again!
Although here it is actually primary functionality, I think one can make a good job in details without loosing the bigger picture.
Therefore, I wouldn’t blame the consumer.
… rant over, I actually hoped for someone pointing me to a setting I was missing.
Don’t get me started. How about fixing so you can use the erase button to delete selected notes in the grid? Or reorder inserts, tracks, sequences and programs? Or swap an underlying sample without resetting the start, end and loop points of a pad? Or reset all solos and mutes without having to go through fifteen pages to find out what’s wrong?
But my point is that all hardware have these annoying oddities, not just the MPC. In the end you have to decide what annoys you and what you can live with. (In comparison, I’m way more bothered by the stiff buttons on the Push 3 than with any software related issues on the MPC. At least the latter can theoretically be fixed.)
On the Force you can press Delete+Mute/Solo/Rec-Arm to delete all track that uses any of those. Then you have to do it for pad mixer mode since the mute/solo settings are independent from the Tracks. Just found out about this cool feature like 2 months ago. Maybe the MPC can do that too. Give it shot & report back.
Also, your right, when it come to hardware/software you’ll also have to pick your poison & find workarounds. Even if you built your on device there will be something that you don’t like & have to make a mk2.
But some issues just don’t make no damn sense in why they made like that & why they won’t fix it when it been consistently brought to the company’s attention.
I am so so taken with the Live 2, you can really get everything across all parts/channels from really precise tiny moments to lazily chopped pure vibes only.
I am extremely enjoying the little holiday I am having in big gluey collage land.
Love the vibe!
That pic reminds me of my foster-care room when I was a kid, so I may be bias tho.
This started off life as me wanting to make a dub track with the MPC Live 2 but ended up being this, whatever this is.
Once again nice vibe. Was it made all with the built in sounds, samples or both?
Cheers, Jura, The akai kick drum synth, a dub sample and a little beat chopped up and electric I think.
This starts off kinda slow but then…BAM! It turned out to be informative.
Dude actually made some Jazzy type music using the Step Sequencer.
Akai MPC X SE I Step Sequencer - “How Does It Work?”
Hey guys, does anyone know or has information about the supposed-to-be-released-this-year MPC Mini? I’ve been eyeing the SP-404 mk2, but I don’t want to pull the trigger just so a couple of weeks later the MPC comes out! LOL
I already had an MPC One, but I sold it as I came with the conclusion that what I really wanted was a barebones MPC! Not the DAW in the box. Kinda like an updated MPC-1000 in the case of a 500! With a better screen of course.
I wouldn’t hold my breath but I’d love to be wrong!
There was some hype over the summer saying it would be out this year, but the worst thing you can do for a “Christmas release” is to not give people enough time to order and purchase it as a gift. I also think it’s unlikely we’ll see it this year because Akai won’t want a holiday release less than 12 days before the holiday.
NAMM is in January in 2024 anyway. assume they’re holding anything new for that
I’m expecting a NAMM announcement, but honestly, I think they should’ve done it already, so those interested would save the money
Sorry to break it to you but, the One is currently the closest thing to what you’re asking for or maybe even the SP404mk2 with all the updates it’s had its kinda like a barebones MPC mini.
How barebones are you talking about?
What features would you want to be eliminated for it to feel less DAWish?
If the One had a non-touch screen version OS with the classic calculator-green screen & no synth plug-ins would you buy it again?
Akai, just give me a one-pad, no screen Mini!!!
Call it The Real One and you have a hit.
More llke the -1 or the 0.5
I’d really like a mini. Same size as the studio, 4 q-links like the Live 2, drop some of the I/O and make it thin. Like was said above, a 1000 for this day and age.
I’d also love a MacBook sized push mini for Ableton. Just give it 2 rows of 8 pads, trim off a few of the buttons or add shift functions. Single connection to the laptop and usb powered. No fancy screen, just parameter names/values like push 1 (you have the laptop screen anyway).
One day maybe both will happen! Meantime Live 2 is bloody brilliant, top work Akai.
4 Q-Links are workflow killer.
I’d love to see an external controller with Q-Links section from an MPC X SE with modes switcher and standalone synchronization.
