That’ll be your standard vat kicking in… bloody Tories…
I like VAT and I like taxes and paying for healthcare, education, roads and other infrastructure that benefits us a society. I do hate the tories though, for lots of other reasons, for making us an exclusive rather than inclusive society, for allowing us to leave the EU and lying about the supposed benefits that brought, ad infinitum.
Principles more than the cost, although thinking about it, maybe this fee is before state and other taxes for US citizens, so maybe it balances out. I’m sure someone stateside will correct me if wrong.
Fair play… it was kinda tongue in cheek to be fair and a bit flippant… I’d be hard pushed to say I like vat and taxes though…
It is often possible to avoid state taxes (there is no federal sales tax, and only a few larger cities have a city state tax) by ordering from out-of-state. Although in theory one is supposed to remit the tax to the proper authorities, they don’t have the resources to deal with widespread evasion as facilitated by the Internet. If you order from a retailer who has some sort of presence in the state, or enough visibility, like Amazon, they will charge the state tax. Reverb does, Sweetwater does. But, for instance, ordering from Perfect Circuit (in LA) to NYC, no tax. Ordering from Control (NYC) to LA, no tax. Now, the tax is not at VAT levels; it’s less than 10%. But still.
I second your comments about VAT, and conversely, I always felt when ordering within the US that my bargains were being had at the cost of someone else’s misery. But I’ve already been more dilatory than is good for this thread, so I’ll stop there.
Yeah I’m happy enough paying taxes and what they pay for. Not so happy with the state of the pound and terrible exchange rate and the rises in price of everything
It’s all going up while my wages stay the same
Why is this a separate thread?

Cheers!
It’s a new version of the device that just came out, with updated features and at a lower price. Why not?
EDIT: oh wait, I now see the massive MPC thread. If the mods want to merge this one, that’s fine.
Because this is just an incremental update to an existing product that we already have a thread for. The MPC thread, as was decided at the outset, covers every model and iteration thereof…
Cheers!
The prices seem the same as the normal Mpc one here in the uk
Online in the US, the One is going for $899 and the One+ is $699.
That may change since the One won’t be as desirable anymore unless you’re dead set on black, no WiFi and lower storage.
Fair enough, and if the mods want to merge, that’s fine. Didn’t see the massive MPC thread before posting.
Some context on thread merging from the Spice thread:
Probably better to buy the mods a delicious beverage than rush for thread merges.

Yeah, I don’t understand what they’re doing.
It’s mid-life MPC One update, I get that, but if they’re pushing plugins you’d think 4GB mem and 32GB+ storage in base devices.
Agree, a battery would have been nice.
Mods,
Can we please merge this thread with the real MPC thread, before it gets any longer?
Thanks.
Cheers!
Had the Plus had a battery I would have bought this and sold my Live 2. Speakers are nice but boy is it chonky!
As things are now, the Live still reigns supreme.
Also I love it when I show up at an open beat night and they physically need to make space for the Live…
Speaking of which, I did a set using the Live as an Sp-404, in a sense. I used unquantised clips, each beat was between 4 to 8 clips, in 5 banks of the same program. Apart from the beat repeat on the touch fx, I had 5 q-links assigned to some performance effects, and I had my fingerdrumming kits assigned to track 2 and 3 so I could switch towards the end of the set. I can play for 20/30 minutes without having to stop and load anything.
That sounds really interesting… and if that’s giving you a 20-30 mins set from one clip program, you can see how you can extend/develop that approach just with 3 or 4 separate clip programs, and use different seqs for different tempos, etc.
I still think Clips are the most underrated part of the MPC.
I’ve still only scratched the surface with clips. Do you think they bring some benefit to the music production process over Drum Programs (since they can trigger loops as well), or do you think Clips are mainly for performing live?
For me they’re mainly a performing thing, they could be much more useful if the workflow was faster. At the moment you can’t even assign samples to a clip program directly from the sampler or looper which is just stupid.
Ahh okey I understand. Yeah assigning samples to pads from sampler/looper could def. be smoother in general
