MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 1)

Does MPC Live have a multiband eq with visual feedback?

Interested to hear the ‘vintage simulators’ they speak about in the sonicstate video. Could get used on a lot of stuff here if sounds authentic and nice and crunchy

The ‘Jason Bourne’ of pre-ordering!

Consumer Rights are perfect for this situation…

PEQ 4-Band according to MPC Touch manual.
You should use a VST Spectrum in Controller mode to get visual feedback unless this is changed in the 2.0 Software.

Load in slots, 4 slots by Tracks :

Effects Overview

In a program, each pad or keygroup can have up to 4 insert effects applied to it.
An entire program can also have up to 4 insert effects applied to it, as well. See Insert Effects >
Programs to learn more about this.
Additionally, pads, keygroups, programs, and submixes can each be sent to up to 4 send channels.
Their audio will be routed through effects on the send channels, and the processed audio will be
returned to their original channel.

For even further flexibility, each of the 8 submixes can have up to 4 insert effects applied to it. You can
route pads/keygroups and programs to a submix, which is then routed to a master output.

Finally, you can apply up to 4 insert effects to each master output (a stereo pair of channels: Outputs
1/2, Outputs 3/4, etc.).

There are three other parts of the software that handle effects differently :
The Sampler can use up to 4 insert effects, which are applied to the audio as you record it. This
means that the effects cannot be “removed” from the sound later.
Similarly, the Looper can use up to 4 insert effects, which are applied to the audio as you record
it. This means that the effects cannot be “removed” from the sound later.
In XYFX Mode, the effects act like a single insert effect on that program. In fact, XYFX is the name
of the insert effect you have to load to the program before you can use this mode.

It’s huge isn’t it ? i hope the standalone behave the same way.
4 inserts, 4send Return, 4 master FX independent by Tracks/Slots wow

Yeah, I’m checking these too, my critique:

  • No plate reverb
  • No reverse reverb (one of my MPC4k faves)
  • no sidechain hpf or M/S modes on the compressors (M/S encoder/decoder fx would be HUGE)

But the sheer number of FX you can have is impressive no doubt, and I like the amount of redux and distortion fx. I hope all send levels and params can be automated though. Imagine what could be accomplished with a modmatrix that could control all fx sends and params with envelopes and/or LFO’s :ooh: Controller mode with the new bitwig 2.0 modulators, resampled for standalone use, hmm?

There’s very little info wrt the MIDI side though. Let’s hope it’s at least on par with JJOS. Getting slightly worried…

Btw, did you notice that you can create pad mute groups and track mute groups for managing mutes via the pads? And you can quantize the mutes? Rather sweet IMO

Pad Performance SCALE :
Use the Scale & Octave fields to determine the root note and the scale type.

• Root Note (pitch and register): This is the starting point of the scale. The available notes are all
chromatic notes across the range of the pads. The pad that’s assigned the root note will be lit
differently (and highlighted in the display) to indicate where the scale starts in each octave.

• Scale Type: This is the scale or mode based on the root note. (This is disabled when Type is set to
Progressions.)

The available scales are :
Major, Minor (melodic), Pentatonic Major, Pentatonic Minor, Blues (minor), Flamenco, Gypsy, Hungarian Gypsy, Persian, Major Bebop, Whole Tone, Chromatic, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian.

Should sound very nice with Program Keygroup + Chords & Scale
(Rather to merge chords to feed the OT… if no Poly External Synth)

I just preordered a Nintendo Switch yesterday morning. Why did you have to share that Sonic Lab video ffs?! Trying my hardest not to say goodbye to more of my annual bonus…

This works for MIDI programs too, right?

After seeing the new presentation I’m glad I didn’t pre-order a switch.
This will be another WiiU.

You guys are making it very hard not to pull the trigger.

I was always preordering it. The presentation wasn’t great but, being honest, these things almost never are in the gaming industry. A lot of circlejerking and very little detail! There were a couple of moments I doubted the preorder but then I’d see something like Snipperclips and I’d chill out again haha.

It’ll do better than WiiU. I reckon significantly better but then that wouldn’t be hard!

Yes it’s Pad configurations

What are the differences between X and Live? is it comparable to the differences between Maschine Micro and Maschine Studio?

@Ryan
Both seems to be same power … So i guess what’s changed between them are I/O, Bigger Screen and More buttons with direct access. So if the small screen is a pleasure to work with and be efficient enough… Maybe no need for direct knob and buttons access… :eyeglasses: 6 outputs is still nice, it can be Master + 4 Mono (i hope it’s possible like that). Midi is sufficient, there’s Vinyls RCA with Ground for extra Sampling… on the Live too.

I guess it’s only a matter of comfort

Cool. Then, not being completely acquainted with the MPC workflow then it’s definitely gonna have to be LIVE for me(when I get funding)(it’ll be my promotion celebration gift)(if I get it)(fingers crossed)

If the MPC turns out to be the brain to unite all my gear then definitely…DEFINITELY going to go for the X at some point.

But portability and battery power and friendly size makes the Live the most desirable.
