I saw Sonic Catering Band in London years back and they were great fun on stage; I really hope I get the chance to see Flux Gourmet on a big screen too. Lots of people I know have done stuff with him over the years and have appeared either in his films, on the soundtracks or both. Berberian Sound Studio was mind-blowingly good.

The Legend of Hei.
I stumbled upon a clip from this movie on YouTube and was blown away by the animation.

As luck would have it the whole movie is available on YouTube… I thought it was incredible, I haven’t seen animation this incredible since Akira, the fighting scenes were completely riveting and an endearing story… if you’re up for some Chinese animation then this is a gem…

Three top quality recommendations there :+1:

I tried to watch The Road last night. Books like that really shouldn’t be made into films.

In fact C’mon C’mon was just wonderful, I was weeping tears of heartbreak and joy. Brilliant film.

I watched Emily The Criminal last night.

It was a nice little thriller. I recommend it, with the caveat that it felt like it was straddling a thin line between being inspired by/biting Safdie Brothers. It wasn’t quite THAT good.

Really cool performance by Aubrey Plaza, who I love anyway. I enjoyed seeing her giving it more of a serious performance away from the quirky thing she has mostly done to date.

one of the best documentaries about Antarctica, unreal underwater scenes with “ghost in the shell” type soundtrack, very weird interviews of very weird people and of course narrated by the best voice in documentary business - Werner Herzog

there’s a low res version on youtube, but I’d suggest finding it in full res for best experience.

I had the best experience watching this, years ago. I had dragged myself away from a part at which I’d had 2CB, and had started to go west in the head. I arrived home after a 20 min paranoid walk in the rain, and sat down and watched it, and it was magical. Totally inspired me and brought me back to a happy place!

Well, this was pure insanity and I loved it.

A long film, lots of commentary on greed, class, power. It goes hard at times but it works.

I watched the Australian film The Stranger last night. Very sordid and sad but really well done.

a low key story set in wales (uk) … a loner inventor makes a robot out of a washing machine…
very charming…

Booksmart was good too… been out a while … 2 outsider nerds try to party before graduating.
lots of typical american highschool stuff but i enjoyed it… has some actors that seem to be in lots of other things .

This one is definitely on my radar!

Last night I watched the Banshees of Inisherin, just a brilliantly funny while at the same time brutally sad film. I loved it

I am very much looking forward to this. It inspired me to finally watch In Bruges the other night… never realized what an excellent film that is. I think the trailer when it came out sort of turned me off. What a weird mix of humor and sadness and such great chemistry between the actors.

I just rewatched Twilight Samurai for the first time in a while. I loved it even more than the first time and I really loved it the first time. Its a damn near perfect film, in my opinion.

If you liked In Bruges, you should check out The Guard (2011) as well, dark humor at it’s finest.

Black Adam.
does what youd expect.plus it introduces windy woman, big bloke, helmet man and birdy man … The rock stays ‘on brand’ .
there’s a little bit after the initial end credits which made the children in the theatre happy.
