I thought The Meg 2 was an absolute blast! Loved it.
For what it’s worth, I liked it way better on the second viewing. The first time through is definitely “what the hell is going on?” On a follow up viewing, you can just float there in the weird vibes. My favorite things…
- Pedro Pascal speaks like he’s from a completely different movie.
- The janky retro future technology
- The pointlessly convoluted method for harvesting… whatever the hell those things are
- The sudden, strange turns the movie takes
All that delightful weirdness is what makes Prospect so special (kinda want to rewatch it now)
My thoughts on The Order…
- I really like Jude Law in this. Seriously the most convincingly badass character this guy has ever played. Great accent, rocking 'stache
- Nicholas Hoult is convincingly crazy. This is a guy to watch
- Sorta plays out like Pacific Northwest Heat
- Fairly predictable, but an overall good cop drama. Decent enough that my wife was even into watching it (and she generally hates movies like this)
I thought The Order was awesome. Best performance of Jude’s career and great direction and script. I thought Hoult was woefully miscast, I didn’t buy him as the alpha villain in any way, shape, or form. Between this and Nosferatu, he’s on my shit list this year. But he kinda gets a couple get out of jail free cards for Fury Road alone.
I heartily stand by this, but I thought that jude law was ok in it, especially given that it’s a rare casting for him.
This was excellent. If you like your horror gothic, folky and steeped in mythology this is well worth a watch. And a superbly unhinged score by Die Hexen as a bonus!
Really, really good. The performances of them both draw you deep into their relationship, so much that often you’d believe they are actually cousins with a turbulent history.
Wonderful film making.
Thought the nods to the actors respective breakthrough roles in that montage was an insane decision…
When I see this anti-spolier functionality I usually (like a lottery ticket) to scratch it and reveal what’s under it haha
Oh !!
Was on my watchlist… whats wrong with it ?
My old flat is visible in the opening scene through the arches ! Lots of SE8 in there. Good film
It’s good. Not amazing but good.
No criticism intended but if you could post a trailer along with these full length drops so I don’t have to go offsite to see if I want to watch them that would be super dope. I’m usually at least interested enough to find out if it looks like something I would watch but I’m not always motivated enough to go to youtube to find out is the only reason.
Like i said, not at all a criticism, i appreciate most free movies to be honest, but I avoid youtube most of the time bc it’s like a black hole and I be coming out of it like Neo waking up from the matrix like “what was I here to look for again?”
If you’re already there and if you don’t mind the idea of adding a trailer that lets people know what they’re about to watch that would probably be something most people would be appreciative of. I happen to know that this one you just posted will be cool though and if you have not already seen it, I think that you would probably like the and1 centric episode of untold, it was pretty eye opening.
Like I said though, don’t take it as criticism, just me being lazy but interested in the content you’re posting, just not always motivated to sit down with something for a couple hours unprefaced and not always motivated enough to open up the black hole to find out if my body will let me sit still for that long.
I watched the minecraft movie. It’s far from essenial viewing. It’s a jared hess film with most of the life squeezed out of it. Probably his most hollywood effort to date. The casting is bad, and jack black is a shadow of who he was when they made nacho libre, now he’ll do anything for money, and it shows.
Jason mamoa was just ok. He’s been leaning towards these wacky roles because he thinks he’s funny but he’s not. His character is written to be funny but he himself kinda sours it a bit just by being less capable of the required subtlety to pull off such an over-the-top character.
I didn’t like how it goes back and forth between a hollywood blockbuster and a jared hess film, some of that almost made parts of it feel like cut shots where hess was only allowed to storyboard some parts of it, or that they took his storyboards and let someone else fill in the blanks.
I’ve never played minecraft and I’m not super into any of the stars, so if you are it might be cool for those aspects. If you’re looking for jared hess films it might be ok or it might not, depends on what you can get out of it. I don’t want to ruin the movie for anyone so judge for yourself but if that was your primary reason for watching it like it was for me, that aspect may come as a bit of a mixed bag.
I watch all of the full lengths I post in this thread… now regarding your request I can’t make any promises cause when I post them I’m usually coming up for air in a hurry as I jettison myself out of a brief reprieve and back into some music making, but if I can snatch a trailer for you I will.
as far as being critical you not on my sucka’s list and your good intentions always precede you, even if you were being critical we’d be ok cause it’s like that, and that’s the way it is!
I watched havoc last night. Its garbagee. Lots of bad cgi. A story that makes no sense. Dialogue written by 15 year olds and a a grim looking tom hardy.
The fight scenes are no where near the raid stuff. The whole film has a bad artificial look to it.
I can‘t believe it. I love the raid 1+2 and I love Gangs of London. I hope the next project is more in line with that stuff. Really good stuff.
until dawn - wasnt as bad as i expected… it was perfectly fine for a ‘horror groundhog day’ style main plot…
when I’m ready - quite a nice version of ‘end of the world’ movie, a road movie of a young couple that meet random people along the way…
thunderbolts - better than i expected…as usual there was a mid credit and end of credit bit of nonsense…
