Maybe Octatrack because of the crossfader.
Octatrack is awesome once it is set up and you know it well. Its ability to remix your improvisations can really take performances to the next level.
Tempest. 16 analogue sounds available with 6 at any given moment playing, times 2 with Bank B. Improvisation is my core approach, so I bought another one and that is my setup.
Also long time OT user but mine has to go for repair - silver lining is how much I enjoy the tempests on their own.
Tell us more! What kind of jams are you kicking out, and what’s your approach?
Well I tend to make broken soundscape type stuff. Having each tempest with dedicated reverb and delay is great. One can be fully wet and expansive, the other can contrast. The pedals are actually really important part of the setup. And the sound design potential on the tempest is wonderful. So I experiment from that starting point. Having it all so hands on is perfect for me. Like painting.
Oh and having each tempest with different roll timings, scales and keys is fun. Atonal.
You have my favourite reverb on the surface - the Neubaber Wet.
Those Tempests look incredible together, would love to jam on them! One for drums and bass, one for pads!
The Wet is great on longer settings for sure. It doesn’t have annoying high frequencies im sensitive to on reverbs, very smooth.
If your passing through london come have a bash.
Yes I had lefty with the Space fully wet and a bit of lofi delay it made amazing pad sounds. Righty had the DIG doing awesome stereo delay on the drums. Very cinematic.
I recently watched the videos of Monotribe, some people like Alba Extasy on YT even made a Tangerine Dream like sequences on it. It’s one of the most playable boxes ever. If I’m not mistaken, it’s possible to turn off the quantise of the keyboard. Not many synths allow it easily
I’m actually in London now, will send you a PM!
I never tried the DIG but have heard very good things. The El Capitan and Flint are brilliant so I expect very good things.
I love octatrack for playing with a friend. Grab loops, one shots, and bend!
my virus ti2 and elektrons easily for live. I would like try 7u modular case at an open mike event soon.
Lol)
I was on my way to get a v2 deco as I previously had v1 and thought the tempest would sound great through it. Watched a couple of DIG vids on the train and went with that instead. I much prefer the small strymon boxes to the big multis, too many options for me.
