Do the banks take up so much memory that we can’t get 16 on the Digi boxes like we have on the OT? I am very very nervous about switching projects at a show, but I have 13 songs so far that each usually take up patterns 1-14 per bank.

What’s up with that?

No.

But there is a downside to having more than 8 banks of 16 patterns (for a total of 128 patterns) because any additional patterns require a Bank Select message as well as a Program Change message to select remotely. I imagine that’s why Elektron reverted to no more than 8 banks instead of 16 for all instruments after the OT.

I think it’s uncommon for Elektron users to need as many patterns as that to make a single song. Many appear to use muting and conditional trigs to create variations on a handful of patterns. Or have relatively few songs per continuous set. Or use an OT.

I think you need to buy a second Digitakt

And Digitone and Syntakt and Micromonsta2? Haha

@PeterHanes Right right. I remember having issues with PC changes on the OT because of that when trying to write a Mozaic script. I do a lot of muting and such, but as I’m just getting into it, I find having sequential patterns with the mutes baked in easier for me to handle over 3 boxes plus another synth and the MIDI controller. I will probably get into the mute stuff more eventually.
