Moog Subsequent 37 or the new Korg Prologue 8 /16

okay… sounds interesting!

I going to check it out!

As others said, first of all you have to be sure what you want to use the syjnth for:

  • do you want a monosynth with Moog character (nothing else delivers that)?
  • or do you want an analog polysynth?
  • or will a VA (less analog character, generally more modulation possibilities) do just fine?

The Korg Prologue is a great sounding analog poly, both capable of classic sounds and of sounds for modern electronic musical context. It’s mod matrix is limited. Just have a listen to some demos.

It all depends on what you want and need, and you should clarify that for yourself before any decision.

Finally for me, korgs synth is most interesting.

I have to wait on product reviews and hope my music dealer (I think jim, you know them “Just Music”) going to have a prologue to try it out… I do more and more athmospheric stuff (techno and slower stuff) Maybe it could be a good choice.

Something like that:  :notes:

Hmm you could probably achieve those sounds with your current A4 + Digitone for the bells and the more chill-sounding pads.

Of course Prologue promises its own flavor of FM via its VPM engine.

As an ex owner of several Moogs and as a current A4 MK2 owner also from Hamburg…

Agreed, more knobs on the Blofeld would be great … but there is some nice software, computer and iPad, which can speed up the programming process. The next flexible synth, which is excellent for atmospheric pads would be a Virus Ti, with much more knobs and buttons, but it’s much more expensive.

It’s just my personal opinion or experience … if I compare the polyphonic analogue synths in my studio with the digital machines, I would say that wide, fluctuating, and developing atmospheric pads are easier done with the digital machines. This is because they have more modulation capabilities compared to their analogue brethren of today (well excluding Andromeda 6 or Oberheim Matrix 12), and like the Blofeld or Virus, they have more voices.

Using pure analogue synths of today like DeepMind 12, DSI Rev2, or Proloque takes at least some decent quality FX (chorus, delay, reverb) after the analogue synth engines. That’s not a problem, but should be considered.

One great alternative for the Blofeld with the almost same great sound but with lots of knobs…: Studiologic Sledge.
And you´re right i forgot the Behringer DM12(D)/DM6.

Later this year I will have finished programming my Blofeld from A001 to H128.
Can’t afford a Quantum, and I feel the 16 Prologue would be nice to play with…
