Had is the correct word. Maybe Iâm getting too old but I canât stand most of the hip hop kids enjoy nowadays. I know this really does sound like something most parents would say but maybe they were right all along.
The introduction of Grandmother and Matriarch were beautiful videos with artists talking about the productsâŚ
WTF is this!? A 3 month tease with the Super Bowl half time show and Mike DeanâŚ
Somebody need to tell them that the rest of the world donât give a flying xxxx about the Superbowl. So if it was a PR thing it was a dumb idea in the first place. Plus i wouldnât buy secondhand gear off Dean as he smokes cigars all over his equipment. It must stink.
The use of the word as a noun is the source of the loan word. A muse is a source of inspiration. I have not had a classical education but I have read a few myth anthologies. This is where the word ultimately comes from (for both English and French), and when used as a noun it refers to one of the demi-gods that served this function or some other person or thing in a metaphorical way serving this function. This thing maybe should have had nine voices, but apparently the number varied by region.
(Bulfinchâs Mythology used to be an easy to find anthology, and there is a version on Gutenberg).
Any reasonably decent dictionary notes the word can be used as either a verb or a noun, and it is clear the verb use is a bastardization.
Anyway, regarding this synth, I need to hear a Nick Batt demo (or touch one myself) before I can form an opinion. Mike Dean is skilled enough to make most anything sound great.
Yeah first thing I thought when I seen the video âitâs that guy who drops cigar ash over his synthsâ
i know this is superficial and is probably just me being a hater but the whole super bowl thing just turned me off to all of whatever is happening
like who wants to be a part of that target market lol
itâs confusing to see them go from something like this to being vaguely associated with the super bowl/usher/whatever in a really lazy way:
I thought that was Scott Storch who had the cigar.
I might be in the minority here, but I couldnât care about the marketing as it is 99% of the time not representative of how I will use it anyway.
Just tell the specs, give some sound and thatâs all I need to know.
âcigarâ ash.
Thinking about that, makes me wish theyâd hook up Jexus with one. I think he does a good exploratory approach and getting a lot out of the modulation abilities of a synth. Too bad Moog never sent him a One.
If anything, the guy using it is with a huge name, Usher, and then, though most synth lovers arenât generally football fans in huge swaths, it was put into use and inspite of the bitching itâs out there and people found waldo.
Amos Gaynes!!
I liked this period very much when Amos talked about synths.
Iâd take a Moose.
All I can think of is how awful those synths would smell.
No Moog Muse at Superbooth. At this point i think Moog are consolidating all their losses this year and it will be a long term project. The Spectravox isnt entirely new so this collaboration with In Music seems a bit half baked atm imo.
Sorry, I donât think I understand any of this. What losses? Why do we think the poly is more âentirely newâ than the Spectravox or Labyrinth? Wasnât it reportedly under development since before the InMusic takeover? How is the InMusic acquisition a collaboration? What makes it half-baked?
Okay i will answer all of your questions one by one.
The Spectravox was already out a few years ago as a self build kit. Just not mass produced.
The Poly Moog Mirror(Muse) has never been mentioned until this year. Not sure where you think it was aready in production before the takeover.
The In Music takeover is a bailout however you want to dress it up. Moog were making substantial losses and had no choice. Same happened to Oberheim/Sequential and others when they hit a wall they have to quit and start again or not. As mentioned by Dave Smith before he passed.
What makes it half baked? Well all the above really. Whereâs the injection of money from In Music? Or are they just stabalizing the ship for a few years. Good idea or bad? I think its a bad one as Moog has lost some control and iâm not a fan of big corporations taking over anyway.
