There is a FB/EXT IN knob in the filter section, so I imagine that means you can get overdrive that way, but hopefully the mixer overdrives as well. Also, there is a RES BASS button in the filter section, and my guess is that turns bass compensation on and off, which would be a nice option to have.
Messenger is probably my favorite name for a Moog Synth in the past 20 years.
Yeah, given I do have a Matriarch the Grandmother does seem to be redundant, though I stand by the fact that even if they are supposed to be the same components they do not sound 100% identical and the Grandmother does get beefier for bass and the mixers distortion is better to me.
If this sounded close to the grandmother or maybe their other synths I could probably drop the grandmother and keeping the matriarch cuz itās a much deeper synth obviously.
The immediacy on this synth is a pro. A lot of people over the years want a synth that does everything but Moogs beloved synths are often their simplest (key point: the Minimoog). And this synth really seems to embrace that and I donāt think itās a bad thing at all. I hope they nail the price point and this may be the new wave of āmy first Moogā for a new generation of people.
But I think thereās a lot here for others as well. I know a lot of us can groan over yet another Moog Mono but I also think everyone should have at least one if they are into hardware synths. And this seems very promising.
Honwstly i think the muse departed from the normal look already
I think they just wanted something simple and straightforward. I was turned off by the matriarch and grandmother because Iām not into patching stuff, so this is a nice compromise between the matriarch/grandmother and the minitaur/siren. Plus I feel like theyāre getting creeped on by Behringer, so theyāre going to have to show their cards and bring something forward that isnāt cheap enough to be a behringer, but powerful enough to surpass it in both function and sound.
This, the Artemis, and the multi/poly are on my lists, especially as an external setup with the octatrack
Iām guessing with the (LFO assign), (Keyboard assign), (F Env assign) and (A Env Assign) functions there will be a lot of modulation routing possibilities similar to the Sub/Subsequent. Itās a nice touch for a fairly standard mono layout.
Listed in swedish music shop for 9999kr. Should be around 899ā¬
It looks like it has minikeys but even so that is not a bad price, feels like it could be a hit. The only thing I donāt get is the labeling for āLFO 1ā implying the existence of a second one. Maybe they mean the looping envelopes?
Only slightly cheaper than the grandmother? Maybe they consider them different enough to not compete with each otherā¦
Second LFO is connected to the modwheel
which shop?
Derp, time for me to sleep. thatās pretty dope though.
This is how I feel about my GM too. Sad, but true
Curious about more details- and other interesting stuff to be launched in the next days!
Anyone else clue in on the word āmessengerā? I think itās a nice tribute to the Sirin, the Analog Messenger of Joy

Price and feature set wasnāt half bad brrrr
No, itās not ground breaking or super innovative in any way. Most recent synths arenāt imho. But I donāt think thatās the point of them and I like them all the same
Be strong David, be strong
not directly mentioned there, but it is indeed monophonic.
Looks like it will be 899ā¬.
