Monomachine Meets My Old JUNO-60

I’ve had my MnM for about four months now and have been more than happy using it with my MD and nothing else. Anyway, I finally got around to plugging my dusty old JUNO-60 into the MnM. I knew it would be cool, but I had no idea it was going to be this mind blowing!

The MnM has given this old JUNO-60 new life! Don’t get me wrong, the JUNO has always sounded great (I"ve had the JUNO for like 15 years), and it’s fun to play with, but I’m no keyboardist, and the thing doesn’t even have MIDI. Plus, I’ve been working with a DAW for years, up til recently. So the JUNO has been collecting dust for a long damn time.

The best part is being able to sequence the JUNO via the MnM (input as a ‘THRU’ machine). Of course being able to filter and fx the sound within the MnM is also quite awesome as well, but I think the real magic is with the sequencing (maybe just because I’ve never been able to sequence the JUNO before).

One of the coolest things ever is to set the JUNO with an arp running and then make an assymetrical pattern for the JUNO on the MnM sequencer and mess with the HOLD and DECAY for the JUNO, within the MnM. Choppy arp madness is the result! Then I tweak the JUNO while the MnM sequence is breaking up the arp pattern …and with the right sound …things get very very interesting!

Anyway, this is all probably old hat for a lot of you guys. But I’m over here gettin’ silly happy with this, and thought maybe it would be inspiration for somebody else, and maybe be a thread that wouldn’t turn into fighting and shit talking. :+1:

yep great fun running junos thru the mm, glad you did this
loved doing this with a poly6 and juno6
now I using a korg dw8000 and midi with the mm and into a akai headrush
really surprised by the dw8000, best analog synth I have owned
if you love the Juno and mm combo, then you will love a dw8000 mm combo
enjoy and post up some tracks !!!

It’s actually a hybrid  Analog filter/vca, but the oscillators use Korg’s DWGS which is a digital oscillator using single-cycle waveforms as I recall.

but I digress, enjoying it’s sound is what’s important.

Wait… are you somehow sequencing the Juno without a DCB-Midi interface??

Nope. Just inputing the Juno into the MnM, and then placing “trigs” on the MnM sequencer, and messing with the THRU machine parameters on the MnM. It basically doubles the synth power of the Juno.

any videos/recordings?

Yea man, give us a vid
