SID ARP is actually the smartest ARP I’ve found on the Elektron machines !
I really like the fact that you can switch from single note to ARP while live hitting notes…
Wish it is back on the next Elektron box 
Yeah, it’s great, especially considering the arps aren’t plockable. Especially for drums!
Other/related Arp trick:
-Assign Track 1,2,3 to GND instrument (no sound !)
-Add Note on/offs to tracks 1,2,3
-Assign tracks 1,2,3 to trigger Track 4
-Track 4: add some nice sound, and Arp on SID, plus some notes
Now play pattern and mute/unmute track 1,2,3. Instant arp variations 
Of course there are zillions of variations possible on this box

try adding any encoder audio plugs to trig the sid arp from ableton. http://www.encoderaudio.com/control.html
source of random buchla clone and poly rythm buchla plugs are taking me into buchla territory. who needs conditional trigs when the sid arp responds to midi notes and goes nuts.
