Mono Sampling into the Digitakt II

I just leave the studio but will return later night to check this, what would be the right settings? I just need a simple 2-4 bar loop from the mono synth for a bassline and be able to go up max 5bpm up/down on a live set… thanks!

If you want the loop to stay the same pitch and follow the bpm, record a 16 step loop. This is 1 bar. If the bassline is only 8 steps, just let it play twice for the recording. Then put a trig on the first step in the pattern and set the bar setting on the stretch page to 1 bar. Tune should be set to 0.

Will try this later many thanks:)

Ok I had to comeback and try it now, yes with these settings now it plays correctly on the original tempo, but if i try to move the bpm up/down just 2-3 points it does follow the tempo but with artifacts

Got this from support today:

An 8-step loop corresponds to 1/2 bar, and since the STRETCH machine’s minimum bar setting is 1 bar, achieving optimal results with an 8-step loop may be challenging. However, if you record the 8-step loop across 64 steps (4 bars), you should get better results when switching to the STRETCH machine. Note that the STRETCH machine uses an old-school lo-fi stretching algorithm, so flawless results may not always be achievable.

I´m just recording a simple synth line following this settings, but the audio start to breakdown at just 2-3 bpm points up/down, maybe is just not usable and that`s it?, tried the same file in OT and it works perfect, maybe I just need to let it go

Yup, I also don’t like the sound of the stretch machine and basically never use it

It’s been 8 months since release and still no mono sampling. Very frustrating. :frowning:

I needed to downlad sample to PC, run it through https://digichain.brianbar.net/ to save it as mono. upload to Digitakt 2.

Cmon Elektron… would be nice to just release OS upgrade with that function added!

I honestly did not expect googling the answer to lead me here. If someone ever asked me to record something in mono for them and I had to explain the thing I spent $1000 on does not support mono, I might actually die.

What a huge embarrassment, for me, Elektron, all of us. If this is updated at some point, and future denizens of the world are searching for a way to use a sampler’s most basic functions, let it be known that this has been a missing feature since at least May of 2024, going into January 2025. How much longer do you have left in your return window?

Edit MAR 20 2025: glad to say this is no longer an issue! I look silly now and that’s great

this was the prime reason i sold it for my MPC 1000 again lmao. it’s a damn shame because it’s such a confusing oversight to leave off, i dunno what Elektron were thinking.

Slightly tongue in cheek here but when everybody was requesting digitakt 1 to get stereo sampling I’m pretty certain not one person also asked to retain mono sampling.
Be careful what you wish for…

Literally every time i see someone moaning about mono sampling i think of this

Because nobody in their right mind ever thought getting stereo sampling on the DT would mean that mono sampling gets dumped.
There’s probably not one sampler out there in the world that can sample in stereo but not in mono.

I don’t have a big problem with it because i just use my mixer to record into the DT2. That way i can record mono sources as well as stereo.
But i really can’t understand how nobody at Elektron thought about that the lack of mono sampling could be a problem before they released the DT2. Unless they really wanted to have people still buy the DT1 for mono sampling.

Wait a second, is there no way to choose left or right input as a way to sample a mono source - albeit it gets saved as double in a stereo file? (I dont have a DT II)

maybe elektron thought, that people would keep their old diggi and not abandon it, once a younger gal shows up at the shop. poor fella :frowning:

“Fortunately we have a product for people who require mono sampling; it’s called Digitakt I.”

Right now, yes, that’s correct. We were told it would be fixed in the ‘next update’ last July. Since then, there’s been one update, which was solely about overbridge.

Sooo next update came, we are 8 months now since July 2024 and still no mono sampling

What next update?
The last update was 1.03A back in October 2024

elektron should aim to release smaller, more frequent updates imo, so they can get core stuff like this one sorted quicker. jus my 2c
