Monitoring ipad in mono whilst cueing/recording?

ive just tried to record some apps from my ipad and i couldnt get the input to cue in mono so i could hear it whilst recording, hearing only one side in my headphones does my head in and i cant really deal with it, i did a search and saw something about using thru machines but im not having any luck with that and im still only able to hear one side of my headphones? halp.

also before anyone mentions an insert cable i have bought one but i live in an isolated area and delivery will take 2 weeks so any workarounds in the meantime would be nice…

Otherwise use mono in the meantime, only connect that cable that you are hearing from. This also saves sample space when recording. Set the thru machine to the one channel (ie A) you are hearing. It should then be heard on both sides in cue.

I think page 75 of the manual kind of explains how the input works to cue. I’ve never tried to change this. It seems like you can change the way the record lights light up to set stereo or mono. You can also try stereo mode page 36.

I think you want something like this though: http://static.bhphoto.com/images/images500x500/160640.jpg.

hey man, thanks for the reply, i had already tried that before i posted unfortunately, with a thru machine trying to set it to only record “a” by its self, i also tried “a+b” because i thought the mono summing on that record mode may have worked, but neither seemed to do the trick, but perhaps i was missing something so ill have to have another go today, anyway thanks for the reply mate, i indeed bought one of those cables you posted an image of so hopefully it arrives soon
