How’s the build quality on this thing for those that have had it a while?

It’s very much in the brick shithouse category of build quality. It’s extremely thick and heavy. Some complain about the light knobs. They do seem in contrast to the rest of the thick metal bits, but they never bothered me.

I definitely overlooked this machine when it first came out, probably because of the price. But after watching all the updates and hearing lots of sound examples, it looks like a beast of a machine.

It’s rock solid. No issues for me whatsoever.

It’s a reassuringly well-built machine, up there with the best of them. And sounds incredible.

…the belgium one man show continues…it came a long way, that sturdy sonic starship trooper…

and yes, modor devices are rocksolid built metal case quality, with in harsh contrast to that, pretty lightweight felt knobs…but aslong u don’t try to carry the device by just holding it by it’s knobs only, u’ll be all fine…

but hey, that ā€œnewā€ still in the title really does not cut anymore, even given the fact that the starship trooper has now climbed to it’s 13th firmware update…
which embarks the question, where to take it from here, now that all these sharp as a knife drums even are acompanied by sharp as a knife synth voices…

Sturdy sonic starship trooper, I love that. And so true. Marcel/Modor is just brilliant, constantly adding value and showing support for this formidable machine. The synth voices sound really good. In fact the entire machine has a certain sonic signature that I really like. It tickles my ears in a most pleasing way. Hard to explain!

I would love to see the ability to reroute the channels to any of the outputs and also use a pair of outputs as ā€œsendsā€, so you can for example send multiple instruments to output E+F (L+R) with different send amounts and route it back in (since all outputs are actually inserts). This way you could use a reverb or delay (or any other) FX pedal for multiple instruments without the need of an extra mixer.

Some nice sounds in this YT video by Richard DeHove, using the latest firmware:

God, this box is so under the radar. I think it’s a clear competitor to the Pērkons and adds value in many respects. Just as performative, but with greater sound design ability and sophistication. Yes, it’s expensive, but pretty much the same price as the HD-01 but with more voices.

Can you send the individual audio channels over USB? To use per channel effects in the DAW.

No USB audio.

That’s disappointing, especially as it’s digital.
