Model:Samples + Octatrack MKII [Advice needed]

Hello! I just ordered Model:Samples as my first Elektron product. I’ve been looking more and more at the Octatrack MKII through different reviews, youtube videos, etc.

One common theme I see is the steep learning curve. It seems that a lot of people almost advise against buying it because of the complex nature of the machine. I am very interested in using it primarily for sound design. I’d love to just go all-in on what it’s able to do with samples and how much you can really flip sounds around and create something truly unique.

If I was to use Model:Samples for the more simple beat making side of things, paired with Octatrack MKII for creating complex and experimental sounds to accompany the rhythm that MS can produce, do you think this would work? I’d love anyone’s opinion here on whether I’m jumping too far in the deepened, or whether if I commit to really learning it and making the most of it, it could deliver on what I’m hoping for.

Thanks!

If you’ve got plenty of spare time to learn it, then I can’t see any cons here.
Go and buy one.
