…good intensions and ideas in first place, but too late to the hw hype and peak party to get serious for real…
quite some other small hw brands soon to follow, i’m afraid…
elektron survived their look into the abyss…but let’s have a little prayer and best whishes for hydra…or udo…

Seems like the name of the brand came back several times in the Gear That Died thread. I guess bad QC doesn’t help boosting sales.

I‘m still getting an Argon8 to blast away the competition!

I guess most people had bad souvenirs of the Periodic Table of the Elements.
Was hoping to find some Maddox tunes in here.
Is disappoint.

Once you get it make sure you get the Modal App installed and upgrade to the latest firmware.
I just double checked and my Cobalt8M has the latest 2.1 should something occur with availability.

I had an Argon8 , traded it in for a Argon8X. I really liked playing with the additional octaves. Interesting machine. Got rid of it, no reason.
One or two takes, just playing around.

On the plus side the updates last year really enhanced the synths and addressed a bunch of earlier issues so if this where it ends, the Argon and Cobalt are in a decent spot
My sleep deprived brain thought Modal created a synth aimed at pop artists…
Sad to hear they went bust. Hopefully they can find an investor.

Mine too.
I have a skupt se and a craft 2.0, and have often considered them a gateway to wanting the others. If craft were a bit less buggy (in the beginning) for me I’d have likely done it already, as the skupt se has been rock solid and the craft only hangs on certain presets I’ve long-since deleted and since then it’s been fine ever since (other than being noisy on USB power that rechargeable batteries takes care of).
Perhaps there will be some blow out sales.
Could be just a rename/rebrand on paper for tax purposes. Or Gasp yet another private equity buyout….maybe musictribe bought em and just killing off the name?

Sad to hear… really great products… hopefully they can find a buyer that wants to continue the brand…
That’s a shame, seems like they were generally trying to produce something different and innovative.
Perhaps the thread should be renamed.

I’m glad for Robin that he’s got the scoop on this.
And good news.

I mean, I’d expect whoever is in charge at Modal to be saying “this is not the end” right up until the movers come to reclaim their office furniture.

Let’s hope this is true…I must admit I am not too sure what I believe…
Nah I’ve been through that. Think of it as a new beginning with less benefits and less possibility for promotions. Great career move.

Doesn’t sound competent if they’ve run up £2.5 million in debt. They might make great gear and have a lot of fans, but if somebody else has to pay for their mistake, then they shouldn’t be in the game.
Obviously my opinion is based on what i’ve just read. I don’t understand the dynamics of the company, but it isn’t profitable they should fold.
