Hello,
I have a Monomachine SFX60 MKII that I recently took out of storage, it has OS 1.21 and I would like to upgrade it to the latest OS (1.32b).
(In case you were wondering, it was in storage for so long because I was convinced my small children were going to destroy it, they are now old enough to understand the concepts of fear and retribution, so I am unpacking all of my synth gear.)
So, is there a handy thread I can read as to the steps I should take to do this?
I did an upgrade once a long time ago using the C6 SysEx tool, so I think I can remember how to do that, but can I jump from the 1.21 OS to the 1.32b OS all in one jump, or do I need to take an intermediate step?
Sorry to bother everyone with such a basic question.
As far as I know you can do it at one big step but as you may see I even have problems overwriting the OS of my MD with the same OS but only functional.
I’ve made upgrades in big steps in the past on my MD so I think this should work out well on the MnM as far as C6 does not go apesh*t
I don’t know of any reason why you couldn’t do it all at once, but FWIW:
Keep a copy of your old OS handy. If you haven’t got it on your hard drive somewhere, check the files section of the old forum … some old OS’s are archived there IIRC. Also, back up all your sysex.
…This way if what you’ve currently got saved sounds off or wrong in some way, you can retrace your steps. But – as it sounds like you may not have much recent work – I really wouldn’t worry about it.
The current OS is compatible with all MnM versions.
I recent picked up a SFX60 MkII for a great price with an older OS - didn’t do 2/3 and 3/4 step scaling for starters.
My SFX60+ was on an earlier OS revision until recently also.
Updated the OS on both models no problems - so i’d imagine the SFX60 I got was on the same OS as yours is or there a bouts but I can’t remember from memory.
