I wanna know how this compares to the Isla s2400…?
I have that one but missing some of the simplicity because of the 2 in 1 character concerning envelopes and sample quality (where you have to decide on the specs of your tracks and that takes a lot of time.

there are some people who have an OG-1200 or the Rossum and the S2400. i only have the S2400 and by looking at the specs, they are quite a bit different in what they offer in form of features. there is some overlap in core workflow and sound characteristics, but the S2400 has a lot more features and flexibility. the S2400 sounds really dope and is intuitive and easy to use. i like it more than other modern samplers from akai or NI or elektron.

some people are saying that the S2400 has too many features, where i would disagree, and say its not a replica of the 1200, and its still so easy and fun to use.

if you want a replica of the 1200, i would wait and buy a MKSREC1, because it is actually a replica with some nice enhancements…

I have an s2400 myself. I agree that the feature set is good. However, I would appreciate it if ISLA allow us to configure a template with track settings to replicate a more vintage experience that loads on startup.
So yeah I see what you mean when you say that people looking for an sp experience should go for the MKSREC1 (or Rossum, and maybe Behringer later).

i see them as different samplers. i want to get a MKSREC1 aswell, if one is gonna be available anytime soon. but i wouldnt sell the S2400 for it, like it too much.

For you all who own one - how stable is the clock? I ask because it has a metronome out. So in theory you could record into the daw set to the same tempo and then line up the tracks based on the recorded metronome click track and be done. That is assuming there is no clock drift.

I had a lot of success doing it this way with elektron machines, and never had any drift.

I believe this is how many people record their sp1200 since they say sending it sync can change the feel.

Nice. I have one of those. You haven’t tried unsynced? That’s how a lot of guys did it since the sp1200 has the metronome out and then it’s running on its own clock.

If you try it out you just set Ableton to the same bpm before you track in. Would be awesome to see if it works and if you notice a difference. I’d do it myself but I have no idea when more will be available to buy.

ive been on it since there is a website (year or something like that). its a one man operation. it will take some time to move those units. if you need something right now, i would look otherwise.

I don’t need it now, just trying to get an idea of how long the wait will be. I think he just recently started producing these in earnest so I’m not sure that a year will be the wait time. Or maybe it will, seems like a mystery to most right now on how the release process works.

I signed up for the list even though I don’t think I need it with the S2400. I’m really curious whether the streamlined workflow and converters/filters are significantly better to me. Makes sense that it would be worthwhile but it’s still pricey. I wonder how many people have ordered it.

Its a beauty. I got him to fix something the other week (midi start/stop not responding when it was in mute screen mode)…and fairplay he fixed it with a new firmware in a few days…Ive also asked about the possibility of having an asterix next to whatever channel and group are already taken with samples

100% Ableton auto filter on this. You need the LFOs. MKS filters are more for sweeps or shaping a sound.

Cool. That’s a good workflow. Shape the sounds and add the lfo and movement in Ableton. jam out an arrangement on the mksrec while recording. Then maybe jam out some more automation with Push. Mix and done.

At least that’s how I envision using mine. Should have it next month.
