MKI vs MKII analogs

those mk1 pads on the rytm are awful, probably the worst i’ve used on any drum machine to date lol

i do like how the mk1 encoders feel and respond over the mk2 though. I get that the new ones are more durable but they just don’t behave the way i like compared to mk1

I can’t complain about the mk1, it’s taken a few beatings. I just wish the screen was easier to see from an angle, because that’s how I use it.

Hey! I know you’ve used the MD too. How would you compare it to the AR2 as sample based drum machine?

Oh I save sounds. Obsessively. You should know by now that I’m a sound design addict who’s put out soundpacks

What I meant by prying open is the idea of a programmed preset with range. I like to add velocity mod and perhaps aftertouch in the sound itself then performances to the kit to give the sounds expressiveness, because I got the Rytm to replace Nord Drum. Rytm has huge possibilities but I think my sense might sit at the outlands of its sound engine. Though I’ve read a lot of testimonies saying it takes work and I think it might be a combo of the intended genre (loud techno) and parameter design, which is very open-ended, contrasted to Model:Cycles and Syntakt. MKI has many quirks too which make the process a little more tedious than I imagine MKII’s to be - I only tried it briefly.
