Minimal / Coldwave setup?

(Funnily enough, while Martin Dupont on stage played most of the parts live, they relied on some computer which required a couple of reboots during the show )

@dordar are you using the nymphes in one of the mono modes as a bass? It can make such fuckin mean basses ime

OP didn’t mention if this setup was intended to be controlled with a DAW like Ableton, or DAWless/portable setup… but I’ll assume DAWless and will need to sequence itself. Also whether or not a controller like a Keystep could be used… but that opens up more choices as many of the best options are desktop units.

My suggestions-

Drum machine: Digitakt mk1 or mk2. I think this is a no-brainer for a compact setup, can sequence the other pieces using the tried and true Elektron workflow. Alternates: TR-8S, Alpha Base, Analog 4/AK.

Bass monosynth: Toraiz AS-1 or Minitaur. So many great mono options out there so I’m going by sound, compactness and affordability… these are the best options IMO. Alternates: Studio Electronics SE-1 or Boomstar, Roland SE-02, Dreadbox Typhon, various Behringer monosynths.

Polysynth: Oberheim TEO-5/Sequential Take-5. I’ve gone through a LOT of polys lately and these are my affordable picks for sound and interface, both available as keyboards or modules. They can sound authentically vintage… I personally prefer the TEO for the filter but the Take-5 has some advantages, like a more rounded low end. I currently use the Trigon 6 as it has my favorite overall synth that Sequential offers, but it’s considerably more expensive. I’ll propbably pick up a TEO again to compliment it. If bitimbrality is a concern then you can always consider the Rev2. Alternates: A4/AK, GS Music Bree6, Virus Ti/Snow, DSI Tetra, Minilogue XD, various vintage Roland and Korg polys.

Ms-20 mini, tanzbar, and any analog poly and you’re gold.

Behringer MS-1 with a Pro-800 for poly sounds. They both have internal sequencers. RD-6 for drums. This is likely the most economical option (or using your Nymphes for poly).
Edit: Poly alternative: Streichfett.
