I am looking for a portable multi FX unit for my Mono for when I use it standalone. Something along the lines of a mini Kaoss pad. It would be nice to have multiple inputs but I don’t think such a thing exists outside of a 19" rack. Thoughts from people using external FX with the Mono would be appreciated.

I use a KP3 and its modulations go very well with the Mono. The four sampling slots are also great, I use them for sampling beats on four separate mutable “tracks”
And the mic input can be used as a second input, sort of !

kaoss pad 3 is a killer tool. yeah it’s super digital, yeah it can sound cheesy, but if you learn it and use it well, it’s too good. you’ll have to sell it.
send whatever signal you want to the KP3 for processing.
Yeah I really want the KP3, I think it’d go really well with the MnM with plocks on the XY pad, good for that kind of late 90s/early 2000s super glitchy idm haha

You can get pretty nuts with sending midi messages to the KP3. I’ve since learned how to do this more elegantly, but here’s a quick video I shot last year:
that sounds great! Is it only x/y that can be controlled?

Besides X/Y, you can control program change, hold, pad touch (similar to hold, but it operates slightly differently and is usually the better choice), and a few other parameters that I’m forgetting because I never use them. In the video I posted, I think I was p-locking hold, and sending LFOs to X/Y and program change. When you use it like this, it’s essentially like a hardware version of Effectrix by Sugar Bytes.
Oh wow, that sounds ideal. Might have to look into getting one!
Looks like the KP3 is the biz. Bigger than the mini Kaoss but the midi input is just begging to be Mono’d.
Thanks guys.
Yeah I have the mini KP2 and it’s great. I also do stuff with Nanoloop on GBA so it works on that scale because I can basically take it and the GBA in a little camera bag to a gig and that’s my setup
I love being a chiptune musician!
Never used a KP. Tempted in the future to try. I know it’s powerful but does it take long to get used to swiping your fingers across it, as opposed to twisting knobs I mean?
