MIDI tracks affecting each other

Hi guys

So day 3 of learning my new OT and, despite what I was reading prior to purchase, I’m finding it really intuitive. (Having an MDUW for a while may have something to do with this)

However, I have hit my first head scratcher…

I have a midi track1 set to midi ch1 to control my DSI Evolver with its’ output going into a/b thru machine

I have a midi track3 and track4 set to midi ch2 to control my Yamaha CS1x with its’ output going into my soundcard

Midi cable set up: OT > Evolver > MD > CS1x (all listening on the correct channels)

However, when I mute midi track3 something changes the volume or an osc parameter on the Evolver and I can’t for the life of me work out what is causing this.

There are no CCs used on midi track3 - just the trigs to play the CS1x notes.

From the manual I read this:

Make sure the MIDI channels assigned to the Octatrack audio tracks aren’t colliding with the MIDI channels the Machinedrum and Monomachine listen to as this could lead to unintentional trigging of sounds. MIDI channel assignments to the audio tracks are made in the CHANNELS menu.

…so all these audio track midi assignments are now set to off but no joy.
Could the midi track3 be affecting the Evolver thru machine when it gets muted somehow?

Am I missing something here?
It’s been a long 3 days and I’m sure I have missed something in the manual. Probably just need a break :joy:
Any help would be greatly appreciated

On the whole I’m enjoying the OT. It’s incredible!

Welcome!

This set-up should work in theory so it may just be that there are some stray settings somewhere.

What settings have you made for the Main (global) parameters on the Evolver?

What happens if you try different options for the ‘MIDI Receive’ parameter on the Evolver?

What happens if you set up the OT to sequence the Evolver on a different unused MIDI channel?

Do you have any MIDI gear connected to the MIDI In of the OT?

Thanks for the reply
I seem to have sorted it.
not sure how - have a feeling it was something to do with the trigger selection on the Evolver.
