I have a YC-73 set to Channel 8. DNII track 8 is assigned to MIDI and appears to be receiving but when I record it only records one note per trig but I’m playing chords with six notes? I thought we could record upto 16 notes per step? Is there a setting I’m missing somewhere?
Edit: step record with the note editor works with the keyboard but not live recording.
So everyone can live record polyphonically into MIDI tracks with no problems?
I could record several notes per step with external midi.
Hmmm, that was in live recording mode? I wonder what I’m doing wrong!
Live Rec yes. Just tried, I could record 16 notes, external midi din.
Could you describe your setup ?
Can you ear chords you record ?

It’s a Yamaha YC73 din MIDI out to in of DNII and din MIDI out of DNII back to Yamaha YC73.
I can hear the chords as I play them in just fine.
I can step record them in via MIDI just fine, just not live record. It only inputs one note of the chord in live record mode.
Edit: I just tried live recording in without DNII MIDI out back to YC73 to prevent a midi loop but the result is the same.

I also tried these settings without problem (I used Auto Channel on previous test).
I’d try with another pattern, then another project, another keyboard, eventually with midi loopback…

I contacted support. They were quick to respond!
I tried a blank project and it work as expected… then I went back to my project and it also works now!
I guess I just needed a reboot and switch between a project to wiggle out any cobwebs.
Thanks for your help, sezare56!

Good news ! Stuck notes (Notes OFF messages not received) can cause problems. A reboot can solve them.
So I tried a few takes (cause my playing is amateur) and erased the sequence a few times and tried again, it went back to recording monophonic! A reboot seems to fix it but it doesn’t seem to be fool proof.
It’s my understanding that the tracks can be freely changed between midi and audio. Can you record the note data polyphonically as a synth track with a digitone patch and then change that to a midi track? Might be a workaround of sorts, not ideal obviously.
I find double-clicking stop does as well. With what I do, a lot of noteoffs get lost…

Some related bugs apparently…
