Midi sync

hello,

I have a rythm and a tr 08 roland .It’s the first time that i’m going to learn to play them together .

since i’m new how do i sync them . I want the tr 08 as slaven so midi out to midi in (rythm ) but what do i need to change in midi settings because when i play the basdrums in my tr 08 my closed hat pad start to play on my rythm

You need to change the note that the TR8 bass drum is transmitting. It should say in the manual how to alter this setting.

Options:

  1. If the Tr is the slave you don´t need midi going from the Tr to the rytm, unplug the cable that is on the Tr MIDI out.

  2. If for some reason you still need MIDI going from the Tr to the RYTM, just turn Receive Notes off, on Global/ MIDI Config / MIDI Port Config

Are you sure that the TR8 allows you to change that parameter?

I have a Roland drum kit and it allows the pad notes to be changed, except the closed hi-hat which annoyingly they insist must be automatically four notes down from the open hi-hat.

I did start to find the TR8 manual online but Roland insists that I agree to their terms and conditions before I download it so I backed out of that.

If the TR8 notes can’t be changed then OP will have to investigate whether it can done in the Rytm instead. Never tried it so I can’t advise.

Roland drum kits, octapads, etc., allows you to customise Note Out per pad, the TR8 doesn’t.

It was a wise move not to sign the agreement that Roland requested to download the TR8 manual. You never know with those evil corporations. Just see what happened with Kyle Broflovski who signed the iTunes agreement without reading it.on the episode the Human CentiPad. Better watch out on those situations.

Any way as I posted before the simplest solution is:

UNPLUG MIDI OUT from the TR8, you don’t need it if the TR8 act as SLAVE.

I detect a hint of sarcasm and sarcasm doesn’t work very well on the internet.

I have ticked the agreement before when I downloaded the instructions for the TB3.

I felt a bit sorry for the OP as nobody was answering so I decided to help out a bit, but the OP should really be doing this for himself so I won’t put myself out too much especially if I am going to get sarcastic responses like that.

On the bright side you can affirm for sure that your sarcasm detector is fine tuned and working!

Now seriously, don’t take it that serious! Sarcasm among friends hasn’t to be a bad thing. I just wanted to be funny, if I said something that make you feel bad I give my apologies and my promise that it won’t happen again.
