Midi solution

Hello.
I have a peak and a digitone, I want to be able to control them from a midikeyboard and sequence then with octatrack. Sometimes I want to play the peak with the keyboard while octatrack is sequencing the digiton. How to do this? Do I need midi thru box and a mdi merger?

You can use a programmable MIDI interface. You connect some / all of your devices to it. Leave them all plugged in. Use the built in editor ( via computer or other devices ) on the MIDI interface to setup different presets. One preset for when the octatrack is the master, one when your fiddling with Ableton, one when you’re only using peak + keyboard, etc. …

I am lucky enough to have the mioXL — iConnectivity, but a smaller more portable option could be the Blokas 'Midihub – MIDI Interface & Stand-Alone MIDI Processor.

Search for programmable MIDI interfaces and you will find some options.

  • connect devices ( one time only )
  • set up preset(s) ( occasionally )
  • load preset on MIDI interface when starting a session ( every so often )
  • have fun ( always )

You can also just daisychain:
KB > OT > DT > Peak

I very much recommend the Blokas Midihub. Makes the typical routing challenges easy, and allows you to do crazy stuff if you want.

You can download the editor and play around with it to get an idea of what would be possible.

What if I do not use a computer, will it be possible? I saw a mrcc midi gadget. Some uses a midi merger and a thru box… But I do not how this will work. I forgot to mention that my rytm needs clock from OT.

Keyboard midi out > OT midi in
OT midi out > Digitone midi in
Digitone midi thru > Peak midi in
Peak midi thru > Rytm midi in

Configure internally and make sure OT is sending clock so RYTM can sync to it.

With this setup, can I play peak with the keyboard at the same time OT sequence the digitone ?

yes, as long as each device is set to have it’s own midi channel, then it won’t matter what digitone and octatrack are doing. when the keyboard and the peak are sending and receiving on the same midi channel, then the keyboard will control only peak.

You’ll probably have to configure OT to forward the incoming midi on a track though, maybe @sezare56 can help with that part.

Yes. If you set an OT midi track to the same midi channel as your keyboard, you’ll be able to pass the kb midi notes through midi out.

If you don’t sequence the Peak, you can use OT midi thru > Peak in. This avoid a too long daisy chain.

This is how I was thinking.
