Hi Folks.
Im jamming with an Octatrack which Im using to sequence a TR8, Bass Station 2 and Nord 2X.
The bass Station and the nord don’t have midi thru but the TR8 has a soft midi thru so I can get them all running using a Y split midi from the TR8.
This works fine, however, I would like to be able to press record on the octatrack and record midi changes that I make to the synths and drums in real time.
Is this possible using some kind of midi box?

This must be possible imho sending the synths midi data to the OT’s auto channel in midi mode and live recording mode.

In your setup, you should be able to connect a MIDI cable from the MIDI Out of either the BS2 or the Nord to the MIDI In of the Octatrack similar to the setup example in the manual. If you want to record MIDI data from the BS2 or Nord or TR8 without switching cables around, you would need a MIDI switch box or MIDI merge box or MIDI patchbay.
If all else fails put a midi controller in front of the OT with the channels+CC’s mapped to the parameters on your synths/drum machines. Not ideal, but some devices don’t echo knob tweaks to midi out. Some just need a config change though.
