I’m trying to send midi to my Blofeld and having a bit of a tough time. It works just fine with the Octatrack in Chromatic mode. Play the trigs and the midi lights up on the Blofeld and the audio comes through. But if I lay down some midi trigs or go into live record and play some notes in chromatic mode, the midi won’t play back. The midi light on the Blofeld doesn’t light up and my trigs don’t send anything. I have the midi note length set to INF too.
I’m able to do this just fine on the Monomachine. Trigs send midi and play back. I must be overlooking something silly on the Octatrack with the trigs.
One thing that some people have problems with the first time they sequence from the Octatrack is the Note Setup page.
Do you see the correct MIDI channel number for each track on the left- and right-hand sides of the OT’s screen?[/quote]
Hi Peter -
I do. I have the Blofeld in regular play mode for testing, not multi. I’ve got my Midi channels on the Octatrack set up as follows
Auto channel 11
Trig Channel - Track 1-8 = 9-16
The Blofeld is on channel 9
I also see 9 on my midi note page and also along the border of the screen. It’s interesting that I’m able to play using Chromatic mode just fine, but anything I record or trigs I lay down don’t register.

So go into MIDI mode on the OT, select an appropriate track, hit [REC] for Grid Recording and bang in some trigs. Do the corresponding LEDs light up red?
I have discovered the issue after some thorough forum searching. I tried last night but I guess my search query wasn’t clear. But today I found a thread on here with the issue. I didn’t see this in the manual, but maybe I overlooked it.
Whenever you have a midi device hooked up to the OT, you risk sending a midi note that MUTES or SOLOS or CUES a track. It’s not really obvious unless you look on the mixer screen (specifically solo). When in the Mixer screen, pressing the CUE button will SOLO and UN-SOLO a track. I didn’t have the tracks in SOLO mode. They were just a box without the S.
