So I am trying to sequence an external synth through the octa .
I have the midi track one sending midi through channel 9 ,receiving on the external synth.
I then have the external synths audio going to audio track one as a thru machine.
When I sequence the midi notes on the midi channel nothing happens .
Yet when I place trigs in the audio thru channel it is triggering the external synth .
Very strange as this should be the other way around. Does anyone have an idea why this is?
I understand you need to put a single step at the start of the thru track to activate it . But why is the midi channel not sending the sequence ?
On the audio track you need to set one trig at the beginning to open the amp envelope.
Then you should here your sequence coming through the Thru machine
The trig on your thru track is to play the thru audio on that track. It shouldn’t trigger anything other than the audio to play. Can you show us your midi settings menu and how it’s set up? Is your external synth set to receive note data via channel 9?
The thru track trigs do not send any data through midi, it’s technically impossible. It’s basically a sample trig but the sample is the sound coming into the OT. I think we need a video w audio to really help you out.
AUDIO NOTE OUT sets what MIDI information the [TRIG] keys transmit. This setting contains three options. Select between the options by pressing the [LEFT] or [RIGHT] arrow keys or by pressing [YES]
.• INT will make [TRIG] key presses affect only internal machines or tracks. [TRIG] keys will not send out any MIDI notes, unless pressed when being on a MIDI track
.• EXT will make [TRIG] key presses send out MIDI notes. No internal machines or tracks will be trigged. This option essentially makes the [TRIG] keys function in a local off mode fashion
.• INT+EXT makes [TRIG] key presses trig internal machines and tracks. MIDI notes will at the same time be sent out
