Midi routing questions

I have an Analog 4, Octatrack, Subphatty, and an MFB 522. Ive tried alot of options and been reading the manuals, but i cant seem to figure out how to sequence everything from the Octatrack. Im using the Analoug 4 as the master to save one port, but i still cant seem to sequence both the Mfb 522 and the Subphatty at the same time, is there any way to use the Thru port as another Midi out port? Is my only option to get an midi out splitter?

used midi routers are very cheap on auction sites. I picked up a 8x8 Roland A-880 a few months ago for about $70 or so. These units are simple to operate and extremely useful to have around with all the analog gear making such a comeback.

would something like this work ? i know it says throught but the description says it sends midi messages.

and im not concerned with spending a little extra to get something reliable, so that being said is there a solution to this that is currently in production?

edit: is there any way to use the thru channel for the clock to the mfb 522

Yess You need midi thru box, see also this link with explanation:

I have one of these philrees midi thru units works great.

Unfortunately he is not selling anymore

Until you get a midi patchbay/router you can use your Sub Phatty as a “thru” device. Just set up which channel you like to send from the SP.

yea im trying to do this it just doesnt want to cooperate ive tried messing with all the channel options it just doesnt seem to send the signal the OT is sending . (im sequenceing the subphatty on channel 2, and the Mfb522 on channel one, even though i choose for the subphatty to output on 1 it is not reaching the mfb522, its letting me play the mfb 522 with the keys though)

also will the midi solutions thru splitter i posted work for spliting the midi out channel from my OT.

thanks for all the help btw i know this is a bit of a one sided thread .

Have you tried the merge function on the phatty?

oh wow no i havent i didnt realize thats what its for, im gonna try right now

edit: it worked so awesome, thanks volta and everyone for the replies

No problem, glad to help.

You may want to set the SP midi out transmission to off so you dont trigger the mfb522 while you play the SP.

yea i just got that setup, now ive got quite a nice little setup. I finally have a drum machine and everything routed correctly, no more excuses to not record some stuff.
