As a longtime second hand gearhunter I finally managed to find my own dream techo/house system together.
I am running two octas into an A&H DB4 on 4 separate stereo channels and have an AS1 plugged into the first Octatrack for additional fx.
The midirouting is: octa 1 is masterclock and midi cable goes to Faderfox 1 in. Faderfox 1 out returns to Octa 1 and midi runs through to octa 2. Faderfox 2 out is connected to AS1. Faderfox is set to send midi from in1 to out1 and out2.
I have set all midi channels properly: octa 1 getting 1-8, octa 2 9-15 and AS1 channel 16. All settings are ok and here is where things become strange.
As long as I donβt connect the AS1 everything acts as planned: tempo is in sync in both octas and I can control all set parameters from the faderfox. When I connect the AS1 the clock starts to drift and midi notes sent from Octa 1 to the AS1 are scrambled. Taking the midi cable directly from the octa to the AS1 gives no issues.
I have tried different routings with the AS1 at the end of the midi daisy chain but to no luck. Somewhere the signal gets distorted somehow.
Is there someone who can bring a fresh mind to this issue and give some bright ideas? Thanks for the input.
