Midi note issue

I’m trying to get my Octatrack MkII to play samples from my KOii. Unfortunately while it lands most of the notes it will randomly miss one or two of the, as it loops the sequence. It’s only three notes in total.

I have note length set to 1 but I’ve tried various options, I’ve also tried adding a note off note before the note it mostly happens to which is the last note. Oddly when I, on the page for that problem note and can see it on the grid, it works all the time, when I navigate off to another page on another track it’ll be random as to whether it actually plays or not.

Any ideas?

Out of curiosity, does it happen if you set the OT MIDI clock out to off?

Another thing to check : does KOII accepts VEL 0 as Notes Off? Elektron machines only send Note On with Vel=0 as Note Off, which is a valid midi standard.

With a note with VEL=0 on OT?

First time I hear in 10 years about a different behavior depending on active page…

Muting tracks set on the same midi channel do change the behavior of CCs sent, lower number tracks have priority…

Yeah I’ve tried off and on and it still does the same thing.

Yeah I set the Vel to 0 to try note off before the note. No joy. Maybe it’s the KOii hard to say. I’ve run the same sequence through another synth and it works fine.

Are you recording the midi channel with a DAW at the same time? No point guessing what’s at fault and you can read the actual data the OT is sending.

Good idea, I’ll do that.

Always worth to check with a midi monitor for sure. And compare KOII behavior with Notes ON/OFF vs Notes ON/Notes VEL=0 (see what I mean? :coffee:)

Ha, ended up being the ep133. Soon as i updated the firmware the issue vanished.

However, frustratingly, when you trigger sample pads on the ep133 you can only trigger them as if that one sample is changing pitch. You can’t trigger a separate pad with a different sample slice. Time to grab an MPC.
