I’m loosely planning to get an A4 next month so that my AR has a playmate, but I’ve also been looking hard at the AK, which would take an extra month to enter the affordability sphere.

I feel that the AK is a little large, though, and I quite like the portable format of the AR/A4/OT (the plan is to end up with all three), and if I decide to improve my keyboard skills, I would probably want something with 61 or 88 keys . On the other hand, I can see the advantages of the AK’s built in keys from a workflow perspective. Feel free to share your thoughts on this, I’m pretty torn on the subject.

If I go with an A4, I’d probably also get a master keyboard, ideally something with 88 keys. I looked around a bit and there’s a lot of choice. Are there specific brands and models that you guys have had good/underwhelming experiences with? Something you’d recommend or warn against? Anything I should pay particular attention to when buying?

I’m also not entirely sure if I want a “dumb” keyboard that is just a controller, or something that also has voices of its own, though I figure the latter (if I want quality) would make this more, and too, expensive.

Hi, me too want a keyboard for having more expressiveness when writing on A4…I am not a keyboardist at all, but I was looking anyway for something cheap with aftertouch.

I know you’re looking after an 88keys, but I really would like to know if someone can recommend something for less than €200 and a 61 or 49keys would be fair enough with MIDI OUT of course (not USB only!)
