MIDI master clocks - what's the gold standard?

No it can’t do that. For me it hasn’t been an issue. All my gear seems to land in the same spot on the grid with the Nome. The t1000 did not which was a mild pain but I just compensated in the daw.

Main appeal of erm is it has 4 outs you can adjust. If the nome had that it would be the best option out there imo. For me it’s not really a need though.

Simon (Nome creator) has been investigating possibilities for clock offset for past few months. Now with the release of TR-1000 and it’s offset issues it’s becoming more urgent to finally come up with something.

In the meantime, here is a workaround (DIY multi-clock) made with Nome + Blokas

He also may be working on a clock multiplier function which would be awesome. Most clock multipliers I have tried have latency and lag because they need a little time to multiply the tempo. But with the way Usync works, using its small buffer, I suspect this could be immediate. That would be huge, especially if they also add offset. Then you would have 2 DIN outs and an analogue out as well, which would make the nome a go to option for a lot of people looking for an affordable and rock solid clock sync option.

it’s really funny but for 300 eur you can probably get a used torso t1, that can do exactly that +200 more things

I think it’s a thing already…

Thats a divider only unless I am missing something. The multiplier is bit trickier.

You are right, I wasn't aware of the engineering challenge that comes with multiplying tempo before. I see it now, thanks.

Clock divider
→ You wait for incoming clock events and occasionally output one
→ Output events are a subset of input events
Clock multiplier
→ You must create new timing events that did not exist in the input
→ Output events are an interpolated or extrapolated version of input timing

It is sad that the DAW plugin support seems to leave behind Linux as an OS target… (at least when I last checked the other day, only “PC/Mac” were in the plugin download list).

Are you referring to Multiclock? That‘s a non issue, because any square wave click track will do. That was one of the reasons for me to get one over alternatives: it will work the same way without a VST, the VST is just a tiny bit more convenient.

Ooh, I see, thanks for the info. I thought the VST was more … elaborate?
That brings the Multiclock back on my shopping list (not on a particularly high spot, but still).

You can use the Nome2 without a plugin as well. It will take audio clock pulses. This is what people had to do on windows before the plugin supported the os.
