I’m thinking of getting the Elektron Analog Rytm Mkii and wondering about the possibilities with my other setup.
Unlike the Digitakt, i know there isn’t Midi Sequencing capabilities on the AR but is it possible to connect my external synth to the Midi In of the AR and do a real time recording into the sequence? (just like what Cenk did with the OP-1 at 1:56 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyFY0o44DK8)
If it’s possible to do that in real time rec, can the synth notes be saved to the Pattern/Project or backup with overbridge?
not in the way it is shown - but you can record incoming midi notes as though they were playing the internal mono voices - but tbh, if the AR is in front of you it may be better to record using the pads (unless you have other pads you prefer to use)
it doesn’t record chords - if you want to sequence the internal 12 tracks (8 voices) you need to play the lowest 12 notes on your midi keys (one midi channel) - or assign the external controller with dedicated notes per midi channel (needs 12 midi channels)
patterns are saved with externally or internally fed notes and is not tied to overbridge - backup patterns by midi dump from device
