Midi from external controller very sluggish

I have a controller on channel 16, it’s my auto channel.

I have a synth (novation circuit) which takes midi channel 1 in.

I’ve setup the Midi B track to send to Midi channel 1.

I can play from the DT no problem. When I use an external controller, I can kind of play and the notes hangs a lot. It doesn’t take much to crash/hang the midi signaling and a note get stuck. Pressing 2x stop blocks it, but it doesn’t start back too quickly…

Is that normal? Is the DT kind of lazy in the midi note sent too fast? (every couple second). Or could it be cable related?

I tried connecting the controller directly in the synth and that’s fine.

edit: I changed cable which didn’t help…

Playing more with this setup, I did a factory since I’m new to all this.

It seems to work a bit better, but it still hangs quite quickly. Playing around, it sounds good, then 1 note hang, I press STOP twice, then it stop the hanged note, but some more notes hangs and soon the midi note aren’t transmitted to the external synth anymore.

Could it be a defective DT? Or is that the way it’s supposed to be? Which would be quite a sad state of the DT not offering much creative external midi controling.

Change your peak to something else like 9. The default 1-8 tracks respond to midi 1-8 so maybe there’s some confusion happening.

Note when changing peaks midi channel press the save button before exiting settings. It’ll revert back to 1 every time you power cycle it.

Do you mean to change the channel on the external synth? Trying that

Seems like the monophonic synth are okay, but when I play poly, it’s starts to poop.

What’s your midi controller? And how is it connected?

I’m using a mopho keyboard, I connect midi out to midi in of the DT then out of the DT in the circuit.

Looks to be connected correctly… also about me saying to change your midi channel on the peak… I have no idea why I said that when you clearly said Novation Circuit in the original question… I’ll blame it on quarantine brain… :man_facepalming:

Do you have Local Off on the Mopho?

well something’s wonky with my midi out port of the mopho ;(

Good thing the poly chain can act as a midi out… not sure what happened there, I’ll have to see how I can try to fix the port but meanwhile I’m happy to find out what was wrong!
