Is it ever going to be able to sequence other gear with A4, using midi also, not just CV??
Is it something that can be done only with configuring OS? Or is it just not possible … ever??
Some of you guys that understand engineering sides of synthesizers and gear in particular, could answer, i hope.
Thanks.
U can buy a CV-MIDI interface… I am sure they exist…
In that case, you dont have to wait for elektron to do what-ever.
Kinda like those people who bought a midi-pall to play polyphonic on their a4.
Because, I believe… that midi aint coming on A4. even though people ask for it.
its just not that type of machine… multiple page discussions have been had on the forum (use the search tool)…
Some people say its design, some say on purpose, some say out of idealogy.
Some say its marketing, others say its genius… the box and manual say:
IT DOESNT, ITS A CV-SEQUENCER which functions are totally controllable by midi.
and the synth-engine itself, is totally controllable by midi…
Is it technically possible to add it… very likely… but then again… you can put add a synth to a fridge to make extra chilled beats… that doesnt mean you find it in the stores tomorrow… maybe nextyear:
The elektron-Freeze… There was a time where the dancefloor was hot…
but cold is the new hot… deepfreeze your beats at minus 20C…
Brrrrrr Brrrrrr cold brrr brrr Hatsjoeeee…
2 years later is the birth of sneeze-step… hordes of young people dancing in ski-outfits.
Yeah, but that beats dont make you really WANNA dance…
You HAVE TO dance… cause… you’re cold… so its a trick!!
Hahahahaha… so true…
The A4 was my first experience of controlling anything by CV. I can’t say I found it particularly successful. The only CV controllable synths I have are Little Phatty and an MS-20 Mini. I never got the Moog to respond reliably to pitch/gate. I had more success with the MS-20 but found it difficult to get the oscillators to scale comfortably over more than a couple of octaves. Frankly MIDI sequencing is a doddle by comparison.
I can see how CV opens up some cool possibilities with modular gear, particularly along with the A4’s envelopes and LFOs controlling stuff though.
The fact that we didn’t get any MIDI sequencer output in the big 1.1 OS update leads me to believe it’s not part of Elektron’s plans for the A4. I’m fine with that although it has lead me to choose the MNM over the A4 for my own music.
I thought there was already a firm “No” on this…
pretty much seals the deal for me on going with MnM instead… the lack of insert fx per track, lack of individual outs AND lack of external midi sequencing is basically a deal breaker for me
TE’s Oplab accepts CV/Gate and spits out MIDI over DIN and.or USB. Actually it outputs CV/Gate, too, and can translate between the two types if you want/need it to.
$300 though, and often out of stock >.> but I’m fairly certain Elektron won’t add MIDI sequencing to the Analog Trinity, that eats into the OG Trinity.
Actually, my choice for adding to A4 IS Little Phatty!! If a4 had midi, it would be Pulse2…
I also believe that elektron is doing it on purpose…
I am also new to CV… it will be interesting thing to learn, but i am afraid that i will have difficulties and have to readjust things all the time. Will i have to setup CV for every new pattern??
Your cv-config is saved in the kits… but i recommend a standard-kit or better different standard-kits for different purpose… i also marked my cables for their duties
