MIDI controller for MNM

So I’m looking for a controller for my monomachine and I’m thinking of picking up a bcr2000 (something I had years ago before I got my monomachine). What do you guys use to control your monomachine? If you do use the bcr2000, how’s your template for it configured?

Interested to hear others’ responses to this question as well. I’m using a R&W Minicommand, which is nicely compact and happens to suit my particular MnM setup, but I’m always on the lookout for better approaches.

How’re you using the minicommand with the monomachine?

I always thought it was created more for the md than the mnm.

many r&w firmwares are indeed md-oriented, but the basic monster fw includes a generic midi controller offering 16 parameters (4 pages x 4 knobs) that works fine on other instruments.

my mnm kits have a similar layout, so i set up the mc to control specific parameters on specific tracks … that way it’s not too hard to keep in my head at gigs  it’s plenty for my current needs, but i’m sure a larger controller would allow for far more extensive tweaking.

The link above explains some ways in which to use the bcr2000. Maybe we can get some more monomachine love around these parts.

I was wondering what the Machinewerks CSX-51 might be like as a MnM controller…?

I use an edirol pcr500 keyboard, works very well,

gives 9 knobs 8 sliders 1 crossfader, vol sen pads

Me, too! It looks great and comfortable. Any experience with it?

Novation X-Station. Taking an hour to make a Mono template for it really turned the MNM into a new thing for me.

So I finally scored a BCR2000 and I’m slowly but surely programming it to work with my monomachine (as well as the rest of the gear in my case).

I’m currently having problems figuring out how to control the 6 mutes in the MIDI Sequencer of the MnM. I know that the CC for muting the 6 tracks of internal synthesis is 3.

Does anyone know the CCs for muting the 6 tracks of MIDI? I looked in the manual, but I can’t seem to figure it out.

Other than that, everything is going pretty smoothly with it.

EDIT: after further research, http://elektron-users.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=2&func=view&id=77983&catid=9, maybe this isn’t possible?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to assign start/stop messages to the BCR2000 to trigger the MonoMachine to start/stop?

Have you got an iPad or an iPhone?

If so you can get Midi Touch app and a cheap midi interface and create your own… its really easy and very quick … i made one to revert to kit using sysex

You can also make a controller for the octatrack to control pickup machines… take your sock off and tap it with your big toe !!

it’s cool, i figured out how to program sysex messages into the bcr2000 using this

super easy :joy:

I no longer have a BCR, but that should be pretty simple to set up.

I 'am also looking for a midi controller for the Monomachine. The behringer bcr2000 looks great, but can it program the monomachine without using a PC? The learn function looks capable of this at least for midi cc, but what about sysex controls?

Sysex needs a PC using the software I mentioned above.

I’ve used an iPad pretty successfully using custom templates made with Midi Touch. I don’t think it’s supported anymore but one of the successors would be perfect if you already have an iPad.

Although i must say the greasy touch screen is not ideal, just convenient

I use a peavey PC1600

I agree, being made a easy mapping of the most used(personally) controls in a couple of hours. Encoders and knobs work great, even better than Elektron ones at some point. Also regarding the mute part: it was quiet easy to set the button for this. Not the encoder buttons but the ones of the lower section.
The CC for each track is the 3rd.
